I am new to the league, and was looking at several other players in the market. I noticed that most of them have less speed than most of the players on my team. All of my initial players have speed of 10+ except 4 and all have speed of 7 or greater. Does everyone get this lucky or is it just me. I am concerned about getting slower players if everyone has a majority of fast players.

A players speed is an attribute that is generally quite a bit higher than most attributes. If I remember correctly the range for an untrained player's speed is 7-15. Generally, 8-13 is the average range.

Speed is great but if your players vision, agility, intelligence and footwork is subpar a player with 7 or 8 speed and all around higher attributes will perform better on the field. (At least in the real world it's like that.)

I have really fast players that can't catch, throw, kick, or hold onto the ball. Maybe I should rename to "Bengals".

Thanks for the info!

Ah but the Bengals aren't fast. The Raiders are fast though, and they really suck...

*Edited to remove evidence I was an idiot I missed a post.* Honestly we're not sure how much of an effect speed has here yet. I see a lot of fast players get burned on catches and I have a really slow WR that leads my team in recieving TDs so

hmm but what is your WR strength like?? see im currently thinking that strength is related to how well you can break a tackle. so a WR with medium pace and massive strength could be a good combination.

Im currently training one young WR to be like this.

Exactly. But the speed sure is nice to have. I'd like to mix of slower guys who will consistently make the plays and fast guys who can make the big play. Plus, the fast guys can be trained for the rest, but speed is a lot harder to improve on.

Give me a fast reciever who drops the occasional pass but makes most of the plays over a slow one who makes every play anyday though.

Not a bad idea. Especially if you can train the slower stronger one to be a real good pass catcher. Nothing like a possession reciever who can break tackles and gain a few extra yards, especially if you got the deep burner on the other side of him.
