To answer your questions:

No, you cant change your division, only by relegating or promoting at season end. There are no live plays available, a schedule of the different game types is available in the FAQ. You can challenge other teams by navigating to their club page, on the stadium image you will find a button called challenge. If you and he/she have no other matches coming monday you can use this button to challenge him/her. If he/she accepts, you have a match
