Hi y'all,
Can someone explain to me again what are the stars of talent for...?! I thought a guy with high talent could be trained and gained high skills... but one of my guys, a 4.5* talent, is capped at 11 for a given skill...?! What the...?!
Thanks
Matdust

I am assuming that the capped skill is either Speed or Strength. Those two skills are not part of the maximum level a skill can gain based on talent. They work on their own random skill cap, which is why it can be good to train a player in his physicals first to see where his caps are and then afterwards decide where to play him.

Right.... OK..... good to know.......
Wish I knew this before buying the guy for quite a big amount and have him play several games at his BPOS...
Thanks for the quick answer anyway !

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but if you had read the FAQ you would have known it. At least I doubt it will happen to you again. I can tell you that I have bought an expensive talent as well that decided to cap a bit too soon in Strength for my liking, but I have found use for him in another position. Sometimes the gamble pays off.

6. What about the player's talent. How does that effect the training?
Talent has no direct influence on training as such. It does however limit how high a player can reach in his skills. If a player has talent;
1 then his maximum is 11
2 then his maximum is 12
3 then his maximum is 13
4 then his maximum is 14
5 then his maximum is 15
6 then his maximum is 16
7 then his maximum is 17
8 then his maximum is 18
9 then his maximum is 19
10 then his maximum is 20

The only 3 exceptions to this rule are speed, strength and stamina. Speed and strength are limited by a hidden maximum value (different for each player) that represents the maximum value player can reach even if he trains with weights each and every day. Stamina is not limited at all, and with extensive physical (fitness) training every player can reach 20 in stamina.

i know this is in the faq. but does anyone have a talent of 10? lol

is it supposed to read?:-
0.5 = max 11
1.0 = max 12
1.5 = max 13
2.0 = max 14
2.5 = max 15
3.0 = max 16
3.5 = max 17
4.0 = max 18
4.5 = max 19
5.0 = max 20

You are absolutely right and it has been debated before, yet the game developers have chosen not to change it despite it being a major confusing thing. I agree with your list that it should be the real stars the managers see and not what goes on behind the scenes or old development ideas that have changed. A FAQ should only contain correct and clear information.

Well, if he has high int he might be useful as QB, if not you should keep training him, if the skill that capped is speed, you might still be able to use him as DL or OL, if its str then maybe CB

Is talent fixed from the start? Or can a player improve his talent as he ages and develops as a player? And does a 2-star (talent 4 in their terms) player have EVERYTHING cap at 14 then? Or is it position-specific depending on their BPOS and the relevent skills to that position?

Talent can never ever change. A 2.0 talented player got a soft cap in all skills except those covered by the there exceptions stated above.

A soft cap means that there is a chance for the player to increase the skill after reaching the soft cap. From the FAQ:
7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum.
