What positions would you consider for a 20 consistency guy and for a 1 consistency guy, if hypothetically he fit any position?

QB seems the most popular choice for players with high consistency Last edited on 2010-06-09 at 21:44

In general I aim for players with 16+ Consistency, since that limits their change in skill to plus/minus one, which is something I can live with ... hopefully

QB, MLB, K I try to get 18+, since they are important to perform at the expected level.

I really don't like any players below 10 con (WR2 exception). That's just me, my team avg con is 15.1. Regarding the question as posed though, I will address my thoughts as to what I think the perfect con/con range is for each pos

In the past I valued consistency very highly and looked closely at it when buying players.
However, I've spent a lot of time scouting players in the top teams who are winning their cups and divs, iron bowl etc. and many of them have players have who have very low consistency even at positions like QB.
So this has me thinking that consistency is not that important.
Possible explanations:
1. The up to 20% change in performance doesn't actually function correctly in the GE.
2. It does function correctly but has minimal effect when compared to other skills. For example, I think a QB with 16+ in Intelligence, Vision and Passing but only less than 5 in consistency would perform much better than a QB with lower skills but 20 consistency.
This is an important consideration because of the length of time it takes to develop a highly skilled QB. And the same point applies to any other positions.

I like my QB, MLB, and K to have high consistency. For the rest of the team, I like a mix of high and low consistency players, especially for players playing the same position.
ex. 1 RB with high con, 1 RB with low. 1 side of OL with high, 1 side with low.
The idea behind this is that when the low consistency players are having a good game, my QB should be able to take advantage of it by running players to that side/with that player. If those players are having a bad game, I at least have some players who should be steady.
Not sure just how effective it is/will be, but I'm happy with the way my team is developing.

Does your Qb seem to direct plays accordingly?
