I pretty much agree and second everything stoo had to say..except veterans will cost you a pretty penny more than that..

if you just look for just the skills, rather than a fully developed player. i meant veteren as in, a bit old, rather than actually any good lol..

eg.on market at moment, can usually find such folk..
Eugenio Puente (ID 562344)
Steven Kinsella (ID 559845)
Mårten Fransson (ID 556946)

note:..please excuse the player ads mentioned here..not intended as a sales technique

Oh i understand you. But with that size stadium etc, he's better off to just get higher bpos guys who lack the skills imo since he can't really afford to train guys above 7 or 8 for next season anyways.. so if he gets a guy with 4.5*bpos, even if his skills are 3 or 4, he can train the primaries and not have to worry about his payroll being too high next season.

both have there merits, i think the consensus is, but a few older guys VERY cheap to fill in roles, be they high BPOS or reasonable skills, who can hold down the position for a season or 2 until you find / develop longer term prospects..

Done do what i did and fire all your players and begin as a youth team lol

Along the same lines as the original question, can I have a single player doing both Kicking and Punting, or do I need a dedicated Kicker and a dedicated punter?

How about special teams players? Can they be from the defense (e.g a linebacker also playing gunner), or do the same principles apply as between offense and defense?

no problem at all playig a someone at kicker and punter, in fact i'd generally recommend it to save money on wages. There's no loss on positionl rating for this as they both come under 'kicking'

in regards to other special teams places, it's prob more down to personal preference.

I personally feel its ok to slot players into special teams as the impact on lower positional rating is a lot less noticable, but be aware that they will never pick up rating stars for those positions.

Is it possible that the improvements to ratings occur on special teams instead of offense or defense?
