Hey guys,

I'm new to the game and just trying to get started. So far, I've bought some stadium upgrades for seating and picked up a guy from the youth. Now I'm trying to optimize my roster. I'm using the tool found on the site and I think I get it. I'll need to play a couple of guys out of position to maximize their talent, but I noticed I can play a guy on offense and defense.

Is there any downside to doing this? I know they can't get injured during the game so I'm just wondering if this is an alright idea for an up and coming team?

Also, this seems like a great game, but I was totally lost from the get go. A nice little tutorial or something would be great. I saw the one post titled read this first which helped but was still somewhat unclear.

welcome to the game.

you're on the right track upgrading your stadium. this is where all your money should go to start with.

i'd avoid playing guys both ways (titter), one of the important parts of player's progression is his positional rating, which is improved by playing in matches. if he's playing in two positions he'll only be getting the experience in one spot, so you'll always be under strength in a spot.
not to mention the loss of stamina the guy will suffer

it's always better to train what looks like a lesser player up to fill the needed position.

as another tip, if you find you're lacking in players, don't waste great potential guys on the o-line at this stage, just stick in your high strength, but overall poor guys here.
or pick up cheap veterans from the transfer market, someone with str.15 and blocking of 6-8 should only cost about 1-2k if they're a little older. use these to fill out your roster and get a starter in every spot.
