Hello everybody!

I've just arrived to the world of Grid-Iron and I'm really lost, it seems to me there's a lot to learn and not an easy way to do that. Can someone help me with my first steps? Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot for the quick reply! I've read the rules and the forums you mention, but I still have a lot of doubts I hope you don't mind if I ask some questions to help me through.

For example, I've read that it's important to upgrade the stadium capacity in the beginning of the game. What would be a good amount of seats without crippling me too much economically?

On the other hand, is it wise to start buying players, or do I try to start with the roster I have and try to work from it?

Build as much VIP seats as possible. And don't build the stand you have seats on but one of the other 3
And don't buy players now, first put all your money in stadium

it is advised that you spend the majority of your money that you start the game with buying as many vip seats in 1 of the empty stands. avoid the transfer market for buying but keep an eye on it to get an idea of what players are worth and if you do feel tempted do buy expensive players or players with high wages and keep your roster small while you build up your stadium a bit. as for your roster you will notice that your players skills dont match up to their BPOS(est position) so work out where you want them to actually play and their BPOS will change eventually.

So, just to make it clear, if my economy allows me to buy about 300 VIP seats, I should go with it and buy it in another zone from the one I have the 1000 standing seats, is that correct?

Also, can I use a player as KR and WR in the same match? Are Special Team players only used in that role?

yes buy the vip seats and avoid the stand with the 1000 seats in it

and yes you can use the same player in 2 positions but it is better to have a player for each as the WR/KR player would only gain BPOS in WR so would not get better as a KR

This is also a good time to look at your player's stats and determine what is the best position for the players. There's a few threads that offer suggestions on what skills are needed for each position, but for the most part, these are only suggestions as we really don't know all the skills needed for each position. The basics though, OL - blocking; QB - passing; WR - catching; RB - carrying; defense - tackling. Other skills are important too, but many managers have differing opinions on what's more important. The thing is to put your players in their best position you think now and play them there until they change BPOS to their new position. Players can play on offense and defense and special teams in the same game, however, the player develops to new BPOS more slowly and can only gain in one position per game. Also, low stamina scores will cause these players to tire in the more quickly which will cause your team to play very poorly near the end of the game. You're better off picking one position per player and leave them there.
I definitely agree with increasing your stadium as much as you can early. Buy the VIP seating only until you get as many as allowed. Then work on the Exec seating. It won't hurt you to spend all you have on seating for a while. You may go into negative numbers at financial update time, but that won't be a problem unless you go more that -400,000, which is nearly possible to do with a new team.
If you choose to buy players on the transfer market, don't buy expensive players and make sure their salaries are low, or relatively low. Until your stadium gets bigger, you won't be able to afford a $40,000 a week player.
If you choose to buy coaches this early, you can do it before you upgrade the stadium. At most, I recommend only getting 1 coach at 20, and leave the rest at 1's for now. Fitness coach is the best choice in my opinion because it improves your players without increasing their salary. Defending coaches is also a good one, because it helps all your defense(tackling) and most of your offense(blocking). You can also wait a few weeks on coaches until your stadium is built up a bit which gives you a bit more breathing room. Either way, I wouldn't be concerned with more than one 20 coach until you at least get all your VIP seats built.
I wouldn't worry about facilities (training room, fitness center, etc.) until you at least get all your VIP seats built.
Check your player roster every Friday/Saturday before league game to make sure you didn't get an injury. If you have an injured player in your starting lineup, it will scramble that side of the lineup (offense or defense) and will likely cost you the game.
Be sure to check your economy and get a sponsor. Re-check your sponsor after each game to get new match day sponsors and more money. As to which sponsor to choose initially, if you are in a league with a lot of bots, pick the one with less weekly income and more for winning games. If you don't have a lot of bots (which you don't), and since it's almost mid-season as well, choose the one with more weekly income and less money for wins.
Be sure to schedule a friendly each week. The games are played on Mondays. Just send requests or look in the 'Friendly' ads section in community.

Hope this helps some. Others may have differing opinions on some of this. The ultimate choice is up to you.
