Punt or Fieldgoal

Hi,

I cannot find an option to specify if I prefere my team to punt or to try a field goal on 4th down.
On the Orders tab there is this "On 4th down punt or attempt a field goal "... but is it possible (somewhere) to force FG if distance is <30 yards (for exemple) and punting if not?

If it's not possible, can someone tell me how my coach chooses to FG or punt?

Thanks for your answers

Basically here is how it works:

You can't chose to punt. Instead by choosing distance at which to kick a field goal will determine whether or not you punt.

For example:

If you chose to kick a field goal when you are 30 yards or less from the end zone, if your team is at the 20 you have to add 17 yards to this and you would be 37 yards from the endzone. You would punt the ball if this occurred since you set it at 30 yards or less. That is how you decide to punt or kick.

Wherever you are at, add 17 yards. So if you want to kick a field goal that is at least 40 yards, you must be at the 23 yards from the endzone. If you want to kick a 50 yard field goal, you must be 33 yards from the endzone.

Ok I didn'nt understand correctly !

The choice is : On 4th down punt. BUT if distance is (< 30 yards) attempt a field goal.
I thought this sentence meant : On 4th down punt or attempt a field goal (randomly) if distance is (< 30 yards).

It's a lot more interesting as you describe it!

But, where did you find the +17 yards?

Thank you

pitch back to kicker = 7yrs
distance from goalline to posts = 10yrds

or maybe the other way round?

stoo, in real life you are correct....add 17 yards from the line of scrimmage to allow for the player holding the ball for the kicker (7 yards away from the center) and the endzone distance fron the uprights (10 yards).

Speaking of the FAQ, we should set up a group to write an FAQ that is both better written (in English) and more informative.

If you want to guarantee "nice" punts I suggest punting from your opponents 30 yard line.
