Not really - seems promoted teams are "harder" effected, since they dont count longer as a 1st on Div X, but as 8/9/10 on Div X+1, which seems (league position) to have a huge effect on the base attendance (is known, i call it the gbs effect)
For sure missing form is also a factor.Last edited on 2010-02-07 at 8:20
I think there is possibly a random factor due to the fact that there is no "form" built up yet. Form is what you get by winning games and is noted by the green boxes after your team on the league page. The more green boxes you have the more positive attendance you can get. Since nobody has any form for the first game of the season, I would assume it's slightly random. The only other factors are weather and stadium size in relation to what division you're in. I had stormy weather and 100% attendance today, so go figure

You shouldn't be, since your base attendance is 42,000.
It does indeed seem weird that you have that low attendace Steve, since you should have a base attendance of 54,000 and it was sunshine in your game, so no decrease from weather. Form is neutral in first game, so it can only be some weird random effect.
