While reading through the board here I kinda got the feeling that 'Talent' is one of the most important things on a player. Did I get that right?

So, while this is the only "skill" you can't see in the transfermarket it's kinda hard to get a good talented player as a starter team, since every scout report costs you $3500. while looking for the one player you want it can be quite $-consuming.

is there any way you can solve that problem? are you guys looking for something that might give you a hint of the players talent? (rating, i.e.)

and a little side question: does the deadline get extended if i bet on the very last seconds of the deadline?

Yes the deadline gets pushed back.

I often take the scatter shot approach on the market. I bid on several low cost guys. I don't mind buying guys for less than 5k and then cutting them if they aren't what I want. I have found that bidding on free agents vs players owned by an owner to be especially fruitful.

Yep, and this is a good help for you as a new teamowner to avoid the visit at the transfer market

You probably want to invest your money smarter than in buying young, untalented players - and having not enough money for all needed scout reports is the way the admins inform you about this

hehe...I see.
but anyway. someday I probably have to check the TM. and then it is still quite expensive.

besides that: i've been told by a seasoned manager to buy me a young 4/4.5 talent player with high INT as my new QB. that's why I was hitting the TM.
...and some cheap high strength players as OL.

Great advice, once you have all your VIP seats, IMO.

Ah a favorite subject of mine...

I guess my view is that you have to ask yourself a few questions. Firstly why am I wanting to buy Young players?.

Im guessing you are buying young players so that you can train them up and have them performing at a higher level for longer. If that is the case you come on to the second question, Can I take advantage of there age?

By this I mean, do i have the training facilities/coaches etc available to actually train them up in the extra seasons they give me? There is no point buying a young player, if you cant train him fast enough for 2 seasons, and so he ends up instead of being a 16yo, being an 18yo with only a slightly higher couple of skills.

Some people will tell you to build VIP seats, then fitness centre, then Exec Seats, then get fitness coaches... some will say build all VIP and Exec then get fitness centre... The fact is in different situations different things work out.. but the underlying rule is, when you get a young player train his fitness (speed and Strength) until they cap then you know what you are dealing with (and there wages dont increase lol). So assuming you are going to do that, should you even bother buying young players until you can afford to max out fitness training facilities?

At this point you need to think over your 'grand plan', and how it relates to the time of season. If i have all the fitness coaching etc maxed out, im happy to buy young players at almost any time of season. BUT if your at that point where the stadium is about to reach the size you decided to build the fitness facilities etc at, you then need to consider the time of season. if there is 3-4 weeks left in the season, your fitness training is only likely to be up to full strength by the off season, as players age in the off season, do you really want to go out and buy young players who will in effect sit around for a few weeks waiting for the hard training to begin, and who will also end up getting a year older?

Alternatively, if you are in that point but it is only 3-4 weeks into the season, then you can quite happily see time for players to take advantage of your soon to be improved training facilities etc with a large proportion of the season left.

Then we come onto what players to actually buy.... Personally i started out building a team of underlyingly good 3.5 - 4 star talent players, all with good consistency, intelligent for there position, and with good starting physicals. It is tempting to go out and blow big bucks on a few 4.5 talent guys, but early on I resisted the urge.once you have that 3.5-4 talent team you can then add in higher talent as you find them, be they big buys, or cheap buys, but all along your 3.5 and 4 talent are improving.

Also remember Talent is not everything, if you have a 4 talent guy and a 4.5 talent guy, remember all that talent does for you i give you the possibility of going from 4.5 BPOS to 5 BPOS and for having 1 more guaranteed point of skill (18 - 19), so think accordingly. If you have 2 identical DT's but one has 17 strength capped, and 4.5 talent, and the other has 19 strength capped and 4 talent, which is better? only you can decide on what the BPOS and the Strength are worth... as someone who is having that debate over one of his O-Line players, i can tell you it can be difficult to decide on....

To sum up.....

Build your stadium, build your ability to train (at least just physicals) and only then, should you think about bringing in young high talent players, who will no doubt cost you much...
