So does a yellow star mean that skill can go up another level or might go up another level?

i think it means might go up but i dont have supporter so im not certain

means it has reached its talent cap, but there is still a chance it will go up (see the FAQ for info on it under training)

Ive had one player who went from a yellow star to a red, but I usually change the skill to train if its on yellow so as not to waste skill points.

Lets take a 2* talent player as example.
He will be yellow at skill 14.
14: First level of yellow: 1/3 chance
15: Second level of yellow: 1/5 chance
16: Third level of yellow: 1/10 chance
17: Fourth level of yellow: 1/20 chance
18: Fifth level is NOT yellow, now its red and no further pops will happen.

If you are really lucky a talent 2* can go up to skill level 18

No, it's a chance. It could very well be 180 pops before his 5th level happens, or if you're lucky only 1

One in 20 chance is in average. 5 % chance each training cycle, it could be the first time or ... patience, time ...
