Positioning still seems a bit confusing...

Ok, I've been here for a little while, but I still don't understand the purpose of the "position" skill. Every other skill seems fairly straight forward, but outside of this game at this site I've never seen it really referenced. Is this the developers own idea of skill and the reason it doesn't make sense to me?

Well I don't seem to understand much of anything about this game so this is like the blind leading the blind but I'll give it a shot.

I think positioning is the players ability to be in the right spot on the field and it would seem that its more important for defensive players than offensive especially Linebackers and Defensive Backs but thats just my best guess.

I understand what you are saying, and I think I've seen this somewhere before, but again that doesn't really jive with the description. Wouldn't that idea fall under intelligence/experience? Experience with brains would dictate you know where to be on the field. I'm wondering if this is a skill that shouldn't exist on this game.

When I watch the NFL it is usually the so called "smart" players who are in the right places at the right times so I see your point. Intelligence does seem like it would cover the skill but I guess not.

Didn't get any more info from anyone. Can anyone expand on this? What is the point?

rom what i've seen with my players, postioning is mostly a defense thing. it indicates how well yor player positions himself at the field. by that i mean how well he covers. maybe it was just a coincident, but my D forced a lot more incompletions since i made em train more tacktical skills.

My take would be if that positioning is a skill almost every player would need.....helps receivers run routes cleaner and get open easier for example(maybe)...I believe it might be one of the more over looked skills and from what I have read around the place people value strength over speed for a wide receiver and that just doesn't make sense but may be true for this engine....who really knows.....I simply am going down my path and we'll see what transpires in the months ahead.

Positioning seems to be most important for DBs and WR/te in the pass game.

intelligence on gi is more like "talent" (u cant train talent).....
the talent on gi is more like a skill cap....
positionin on def and ision on off seem to correspond to your /popular definiton of football-intelligence in rl
