Im using the above 2 players as an example, but my question is, who is the better player, a young talent with 4+ stars or a player with better stats but only 1.5 stars?
Do the rating stars only determin how high the players individual stats can go or does a player with a high rating instantly play better?

agreed....BUT I'd play the first guy for awhile. 4* of experience is HUGE over .5*. Eventually, the more talented player will be better, but he'll have to play every game(roughly) for three seasons to get that much experience.

If it's a question of who to play right now, I'd go with the one with better skills right now. Gotta do whatever you can to win now.
But if it becomes a question of who to keep if you ever think of getting rid of either, you keep the one with higher talent every time, especially when they're close in age.

It depends entirely on your situation. If you know you won't advance in division levels then I would play the player with higher talent for the future. If you need to win to move up then use the one with better skills. There is also the possibility that one will cap on speed and strength before the other. The best bet, if possible, is to find a place for the higher talent to play (another position) and keep the other one where they are. Sometimes I just find a place for them. It is hard for me to pass on high skill players for sale as I have almost all of my starters on both sides at 4 talent or high...but if a player had incredible stats I consider it.
