Natural Playing Role?

So here is a REAL newbie question:

I've got a player whose "Natural Playing Role" is supposedly Kicker, but he's got almost no Kicking or Punting skill. Should I be playing my natural lineman with actual kicking skill at kicker instead?

Which are more important when assigning positions for the game: players' natural roles or their actual skill points? What should I be paying attention to? What are the benefits/penalties for playing a guy out of his natural role?

So far what I know, if you are just started the coaches comments about the nature and roles are pretty much random.

You should pay attention to the skills rather than the natural position.

All initial "natural playing roles" are completely random. You can download the GIManagement tool to help you find where your players are best suited to play, based on their existing skills and then monitor their training from there as well. If you don't have the GIM tool to use then you can do your best to figure out where they should play based on the skills they each have. Once they play in the new position, they will accumulate points until they have enough to change their natural position to the new position you are playing them in
