So I've got a bit of a dilemma. I have two very good players on my squad that have relatively low consistency, 7. I'm trying to decide between starting them or starting two other players that have high consistency, 17 and 19. The problem being the two players with high consistency have 3* talent, and the players with 7 consistency have 3.5 and 4* talent. All else being equal, which ones would you start?

to me it depends on position, and other stats.... if there identical apart from consistency and talent, then i would just base it on position as to whether i want consistency or not..

Why don't you start one of each and see who performs better? I know it's not an exact comparison, but might show you something

from what i have read here is how i see consistency being formulated. i'm gonna use a maxed 5 star for easier math. so for a guy with 20 in a skill and 20 consistency he will play like he has 20 in that skill every time. now a player with 20 in a skill and 1 consistency he will normally play like he has 16.7 roughly for a skill because of the 20% variable (if you add 20% you get to 20 skill max ability and if you subtract 20% he plays like 13.3 for that skill) now a player with 20 in a skill and 10 consistency he will see roughly half the variable +-10% so he will normally play like he has 18.2 roughly for a skill giving him a playing range of 16.4 - 20. based on this i would toss the 3.5 star based on math give the random number average he will play worse then your 3 stars even when maxed your 4 star can over come the consistency factor only when maxed out so long term he has possibilities.if the 4 star is young and you can max his skills that you need keep him if not able to reach max then 3 stars are better IMO.

think your maths is a little bit off...

taken from the FAQ:

the performance of the player with consistency 1 will vary randomly from -20% to +20% of his basic performance rating in each game

this means over a season the performance of the 2 players will be comparable, BUT while the consistency 20 will always play the same, the consistency 1 player may play one game at only 80% of his best (so in your example 16 skill) while the next match he may play at 120% (so in your example 24 skill)

Personally i like having consistent lines, while im open to having some variability in players like KR, WR etc.. where i have more than one on the pitch at a time...

Hmm..the players would be competing for a spot as a defensive end or right guard. Which makes me lean towards the 3* talent guys..

If we convert BPOS into the 20 point system GI uses, then 3* would become a 16, 3.5* a 17, and 4* an 18. I'd give up one point in tackling for a 10 point gain in Consistency if their talents were the same. Since the Admin stated we should consider BPOS like a primary skill, I guess I could give up 1 point in it for a 10 point gain in Consistency as well.

well the math isn't off it my ability to clearly articulate were the misunderstanding lies because in none of my examples can a player get 24 skill
