oooh...good tip

although in actual fact, its just as if you built it before midnight lol... for example, building it on day X at 21:00 would finish at the same time as building it on day X+1 at 00:20... and as all the economics stuff is done after that time, it does not really affect it...

in the same way that if you but a player on a friday before 01:00 they will be moved onto your team and you can train them that day, but if you dont buy them until 01:01, you have to wait until saturday 01:00 for them to be on your squad, so you miss training them yourself... although they still get training from there old team... lol

15 days ....
So, during the season, unless u have 2 consecutive weeks with away games only, you will have to put to put up with reduced income from ticket sales during the construction.( As in you stand to have a reduced income from at least 1 home lg game during the construction.)
Did I get that right? Or is there any other way to schedule the construction to prevent a reduced income during construction?

Let me give you an example of some things to consider when building during the regular season: I am adding 9.900 seats to my stadium. I have the money to do it today, but I'll wait until Wednesday to do it. There are several reasons to wait (numbered as I thought of them; not by importance):

1) The regional cup. There's a round tomorrow, but my team has already progressed automatically to the next round. Since I want a home game in the next cup round, I want to make sure my stadium is as large as possible in ticket income when the cup round is drawn. Therefore I don't build today. You could argue that the potentially lost ticket income which is the difference between my stadium and the other team's stadium should matter to me, but I put more value on having a home game than the potential extra 40.000 or so.

2) By starting the stadium construction on a Wednesday (or Thursday/Friday if you're not in the AFLC), it will definitely be ready for the first possible game at my stadium after the 15 days of construction time.

3) Furthermore, by initiating the stadium construction on a Wednesday, the maintenance costs will be less for three weeks instead of just two, since the economy update takes place every Wednesday at 04:00 AM.

4) When you're building in the regular season, there's always some potential income that will be lost. Most likely you'll at the very least have less income at one league home game. In addition you might have a smaller income in friendly games. The latter can obviously be solved by playing away in your friendly games. I assume there's also the possibility that the income in friendly games is not negatively impacted, depending on stadium size and distribution of VIP/Exec seats.
The lost income in the league home game(s) is NOT of major importance since you'll get that back by having more spectators in future league home games throughout the rest of the season as a result of building more seats...

5) Remember the attendance caps by division level... There's little use for 60.000 seats when you're in Division V.

Guys; let me know if I got any of this wrong...

any particular reason you want to play at home, independent of if you will get most money or not?

Im wondering if your thinking about home field advantage? if so, admin has already said that for regional cup, just like friendlies, there is no home field advantage, while league games do have it...

(just a little info in case you wanted it )

Do you have a link to where the admins say that? I have heard it before, but since there's no search function I can't find it right now, and the exact way they worded it is what's important here. I seem to recall they said something about the home field advantage being there, but being of minor importance...? Minor importance = Of importance. My memory of the exact wording could be wrong though.

Another reason could of course be that there's no pre-announced schedule for the cup, so for all I know the next cup round could be after my stadium construction is complete, thus meaning that my stadium is the largest of the two again...

Anyways, I've found my lads play better at home, so that's where I want them to play! Anyone involved in football will tell you a little bit of superstition is part of the game...

I tell a lie... you do get home field advantage in friendlies lol...

but i was right about it not being in cup games..

Home advantage is in league games (that's why you play home and away) and in friendly games. Cup games have no home advantage.

as for superstition... i know what you mean... last season my team was unbeaten away in the league, only seemed to loose at home lol (obviously the stadium is cursed lol)

About the regional cup, well, is the cup round not drawn every week? So you probably would want to wait till next wednesday at the very least to see if you are going to advance to round3 and have a home game against an opponent you can possibly beat(if so wait another week).

3) Furthermore, by initiating the stadium construction on a Wednesday, the maintenance costs will be less for three weeks instead of just two, since the economy update takes place every Wednesday at 04:00 AM.

I guess wednesday(after4:00am)-friday(b4 the training for non-stadium upgrades) is the best time for all upgrades.

4) The lost income in the league home game(s) is NOT of major importance since you'll get that back by having more spectators in future league home games throughout the rest of the season as a result of building more seats...

Touche? (lol is that not why you build seats)

The cup round is drawn very shortly after the last cup round. In other words you'll know right after the last round whether you advanced and who you'll be facing next. In all honestly home or away probably doesn't matter in the cup just as the Admins said, and from an economical standpoint you would always want the stadium with the largest ticket income.

Wednesday after 00:30 and before 04:00 AM should actually be best due to adding one more week with reduced maintenance costs because of building for 15 days.

Example 1:
Construction starts Wednesday 14th of October between 00:30 AM and 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 14th of October 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 21st of October 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 28th of October 04:00 AM
Construction is finished Thursday 29th of October

Example 2:
Construction starts Wednesday 14th of October after 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 21st of October 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 28th of October 04:00 AM
Construction is finished Thursday 29th of October

Example 3:
Construction starts Wednesday 14th of October before 00:30 AM
Economy update Wednesday 14th of October 04:00 AM
Economy update Wednesday 21st of October 04:00 AM
Construction is finished Wednesday 28th of October

In all examples, the construction will be finished before the first possible home game in league play for a non-AFLC team, which is Saturday the 31st of October. But in Example 1 you actually have less expenses due to the reduced maintenance costs.
Only if you have a totally undeveloped side of your stadium will this be a mute point...
