Since I run the 4-4, my safety, whether SS or FS covers run and pass.

What happens if you play without a SS? Does the FS come up in run support or does a LB make the tackle/tackle attempt?

It depends on his location. For example: If I played my FS-center, and the HB ran the ball down the center, my FS would come in as run support. But if I played my FS-center, and the HB ran the ball down the right or left flank, the responsibility fell to the OLB or DE.

so if i play

NT..DT..DE(R)
MLB.........OLB(R).........CB(R)
SS..........SS(R)........CB(R)
FS...........FS(R)

will all the plays down the other flank result in TDs?
Has anyone tried using something similar?
So will using this formation result in a loss to a bot team?

Nope. I haven't played that defense, but I can say with certainty that the zones will simply shift, and the far left flank will be covered by NT/MLB/SS/FS.

Makes sense....But I thought a SS (R)/SS(L) not being the third line line of defense against a pass down the middle(i tried using SS(flanks) for 1- 2 games) intuitively meant the defense down the other flank in the above formation would be really poor if not awol
Since this team ain't qualifying for the next div this season, I ll try that D next game and see how it goes

I'm curious to see how that will work out for you! Would be very nice of you if you shared your experiences!

there is a guy in div III 4 east euro who uses loads of safeties and 1 LB. which is quite successful.
