A gunner is on Special teams on the kicking team and he runs on the outside to tackle the Kick returner He should be fast and a good tackler and of course you need 2

Gunners are really not that important. You could put anybody out their and It won't make much of a difference. Until they make it where Kick Returners can return it for a touchdown, gunners will not be significant.

Agreed and more often than not the player making the tackle on a kick return is not a gunner anyway. So gunners are being phased out of my team.

I agree without the threat of a big gain at the minimum the gunners really don't matter as much.
