Does Carrying pertain just avoiding fumbling, or does it actually make a player a better ball carrier (making cuts, breaking tackles, etc.)?

i personally think it heps with the verall performance. not only with avoding fumbles. for instance: i have 2 RB's. both have carrying 8. one guy fumbled 4 times in 11 games, the other one only once. That's why I don't think that carrying affects fumbles.

I think carrying has to do with avoiding fumbles and breaking tackles. I also think that if a runningback doesn't have high strength than he will get tackled easier.

I would say a RB breaks tackles by AGILITY, runs through the line by SPEED and avoids fumbling by CARRYING. This was only guessed!

We might as well close this thread now cause we're eventually gonna end again with "IMHO that's how things work in REAL life but we don't know how the engine works"...

Might as well give up guessing now to save us time...

INMHO... j/k

If you're talking the role of carrying in receivers, my data shows that footwork is far more crucial for breaking tackles. Carrying seems to govern the same thing in RBs. So it really just depends on the position.

But that's not how they do it in the NFL!

Alright, I think we're through with the basics now...

If you have low carrying, I think you might carry the ball the wrong direction or do something stupid with it -- like Leon Lett.

Carrying does seem to be tried to fumbles, rushing performance too.
