Well I suppose it depends on your staff and upgrades you have. What is your coaching staff at? Do you have a training hall? Is it upgraded? If you had none of the above and even at 20 teamwork it would take a literal month to increase a single stat by 1. To be more specific that is around 30 points a week for 18 weeks for a season and you get 540 points a season. So, 5.4 skill points a season. So in 5 seasons when your player hits the decline they would only have gained 25-30 skill points that you cannot completely control. His age is the biggest concern. It is difficult without the above information to accurately judge him though.

I'm not doing this to say my qb is better than yours, I'm using mine as a reference point. My qb is 19 years old with 5 vision, 11 intelligence, 4 footwork, 6 carrying, 5 passing, 15 speed, 14 strength, 4.5 talent, 2.5 stars, 10 teamwork, and 20 consistency.

So, take my qb above with no upgrades in staff or buildings, combine his 10 teamwork with another 10 or so points a week he gets for training. That is 20-22 points a week he gets. 20 times 18 weeks equals 360 points, which is 3.6 skill points a season he increases. Now, 3.6 skill points a season for the next 5 would get me to your qb's age and I would have gained around 20 skill points (add half of this season as well). So, now my qb is 24 and lets say I focused on passing and vision. Add 6 to each and I am at 11 passing and 11 vision to go with high carrying, strenth, and speed. This qb can run it and throw it with 5 more years to gain another 20 or so points. It will be more because I have and will have more upgrades. I'm focusing on fitness skills now, so he will have HIGH speed and strength and stamina. So those 5 years are important.

Does that make sense?

Actually, teamwork is divided by two. So he's gaining about 13-17 points a week for training. 15*18=270 minus the 10% assuming your using the "focus on" option. 270-27=243= 2.43 training points a season. 2.43*next 5 seasons =about 12.15 skill points.

I do agree however in the points you've made. I made my team much, much younger last season and don't regret it all that much.

Thanks, I rushed through that without thinking. Same idea as you said. My team is div five, but most are 17-19years old and have pretty decent to good stats. By the time I get to TD (I intend on it:nodThey will only be 27ish with great stats, and I will have my other young players I pick up here and there for replacements.

I have two guys over 23 on my team. One is going to retire at the end of the season and the other is my starter until one of the younger guys can bump him out. I think the key to long term success, just like in real life, is to constantly evaluate talent, look to get young guys, train them, and start them asap. The older players have a place to but if you keep tabs on your team and continue to rotate young players in and older players out, your team will continue to have success season after season.

lol, as ive said my team is just 10 weeks old, i can't expect miracles and a team of world beaters in 5 mins. For 2000 this qb is pretty good i feel - for a team of 10 weeks

That may be, but we are just answering the question as to whether this QB is great long term. I think the answer is, it depends on you upgrades, and ultimately, for long term I don't think it is the answer. He is the short term answer. Short term meaning 3-5 seasons.

Well thats in the eye of the Beholder too, isnt it?
For me 3-5 Seasons is Long Term.
Because this is the first full Season for me.
At the End of this Season it will be September.
The next(4) Season ends somewhere in December.
So we play two Seasons in half a year.
One year is a long term for me.
One Day is a short term in my oppinion

I disagree. Long term is thinking of how your franchise will look like in the future in terms of your young players and where you want them. If you are seriously day to day then it will be difficult to be successful. A good owner needs some vision. If you can't plan for more than 3 seasons ahead then I would suggest reevaluating that vision. I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt. I'm just saying that there is a long term and short term, and that it isn't as subjective as you suggest. It could be the difference of a year either way, but anything less than 2 seasons is definitely short term thinking. If you only plan on playing for 2 or 3 seasons then you aren't giving this game a chance.

In calculation you have to also predict:
1. some injuries - player doesn't get training points when injured
2. after age 27 player is starting to loose skills (some decreasing)

Beginner must search for players with high team work, when coaches and training hall are fully upgraded, then team work looses some importance.
