there is this assumption by some users that an important skill for O-linemen is vision. how come it's not for D-line as well??especially the DE's would need it for getting to the QB faster.

Vision is IMO one of the skills nearly everyone needs or at least it is helpful for nearly each position.

An offensive lineman has more to look for than a defensive lineman. DB's and LB's blitzing from either side as well as the person in front of him. If an O-lineman was only required to run block the vision needed would be the same. But when he pass blocks he really needs eyes on the sides of his head.

i dont think the game engine is nearly that advance

imo, all Olineman need blocking no less than 10 and str no less than 15. have your OT get at least 7 footwork and a TE with 7+ blocking and you are set for your line

Wow thanks a bunch . I'll whip that up this weekend. Have my o-line set for next week.

I tend to agree. I'm not sure there is any evidence that vision helps O-Linemen. Obviously in real football, vision helps everybody to some extent (do you see any blind footballers?), but in my experience strength, blocking, footwork and stamina are the only ones making a significant contribution to their performance.

My definition for vision is sg like the following:
Vision is an ability to have an overview of the play or a situation on the pitch. It is a kind of "reading the play" ability.

My assumption is, that players make decision based on this info. Maybe intelligence plays a role as well. (Maybe intelligence helps them to make the right decision.)

Eg.: RB needs vision to find openings between defenders. LB reads the play calling based on vision, and reacts accordingly.

I assume, that those player, who do not need to make decisions, do not need vision. So OL and DL do not need it. (They just make a one-one clash.)

Totally agree. I think that apart from 1 or 2 main skills, attributes like speed, strength, energy, stamina, team chemistry and BPOS player rating have much greater effects than any secondary skills.
