I'm new to GI and I seeing the GI is more run oriented than the NFL. So, if I want to align a run defense what's the best way to do that? Use only one saftey and add a lineman or linebacker? Should I use two strong safteies rather one strong saftey and one free saftey?

Another question: What attributes are important for defensive players to have in order to stop the run?

Thanks.

well i have a 4-3 system with 1 strong and one free safety.. that works really well against the run.
Of course if you scout your next opponent and see he runs the ball almost all the time,.. feel free to use 2 strong safeties
The important skills for your defense:
FS:
Primary: Tackling. Positioning. Vision. Intelligence.
Secondary: Agility. Speed.

SS:
Primary: Tackling. Positioning. Strength. Vision.
Secondary: Agility.

CB:
Primary: Speed. Agility. Positioning. Tackling.
Secondary: Catching. Vision.

LB:
Primary: Intelligence. Tackling. Strength. Speed. Positioning.
Secondary: Agility. Catching. Vision.

DT/NT:
Primary: Tackling. Strength. Footwork.
Secondary: Agility.

DE:
Primary: Tackling. Footwork. Strength. Speed.
Secondary: Speed. Agility.

also, i think you might find this quite helpful:
