The Positioning skill

I re-read the sticky on this forum that lists the primary and secondary skills needed for each assignment and noticed that 'Positioning' is only mentioned in defensive assignments.

Is it generally assumed that positioning is a defensive attribute? I had previously thought that positioning could be equated to route-running in WRs/TEs (although admittedly this could be interpreted as Vision) and maybe something like leverage in o-linemen. But the sticky seems to suggest that it's pretty much irrelevant on offense.

There are quite a few theories out there concerning the different skills and as long as there are no official answer from the game designer about how the different skills actually should be understood, then I think people should continuously throw ideas out to debate

In your specific situation it is difficult to say, if the positioning skill matters more on defense than on offense, since it would require some play testing to back it up before making any conclusion.

The latest idea I heard about positioning, was that it could be helping players change they natural position. Again it is just an assumption and nothing concrete yet.

If you'll notice one of an o-lineman's needed attributes is intelligence. Smart guys don't have to be told . Now d-lineman are a different story. In fact I had to hire a d-lineman dressing coach . "This is your right foot and this is your left foot" and "Zipper to front , boys."
