Hey guys, I'm still a little wet behind the ears here and would love to hear from you GI vets on how you got started...

I'm currently 3-0 against an 8 bot Division 5 league. It looks like I should be able to get promoted should I play smart and continue the surge. The other human joined recently and is 1-2 so even if he beats me I still have a leg up...

My coaching situation is 1-1-1-3, with a 3 on medical.

I have around $130,000 in the bank, with a bunch of seats being built.

Recently, I've been picking up 1 1/2 to 2 star players that have better intellect/teamwork/consistency to build myself a core team and get rid of my guys that have low levels of those players. I'm focusing on 1 1/2 to 2 star players to keep my costs down, while still upgrading the position.

My question is this...

Should I focus on training fitness for all of my players, or shift to building up the key attributes for their positions now that I know where I want everyone playing?

I feel like training is going to take FOREVER, because of my lack of coaching, so I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels each week. I guess I'm just unsure of what direction to head next...

Thanks in advance!

There are 3 ways to go:

Long-term approach:
Invest in your stadium until you have all VIP and Exec seats built, then get coaches and facility upgrades.

Defense approach:
Ivesting in a defending coach (at least 10, if not 20) will train tackling for your defenders, and blocking for your o-line, and is one of the biggest bangs for your buck. However, you may get hit with higher wages next season, so be sure to upgrade stadium.

Physicals approach:
Ivesting in fitness coaches (again, 10 to 20) will boost stamina, strength and speed, all of which improve your players without affecting the wages like other training can (which sets you up better financially for the future).

For a frame of reference, I went the Defensive coach route, but I'm not in the greatest financial position now.

Personally, especially at the lower levels, I believe in training stamina(fitness) first. Just don't pay for high level of coaches early on. Continue building your stadium, then later on(say the offseason, once you get your prize money) then you go ahead and buy better coaches.

Training is up to you, but like I said, I suggest stamina. It seems to help in the 4th quarter of games, and once it's high then you can focus on everything else. Hopefully by then you have some money and coaches, and training should go quicker.

me too! bought the fitness coach at 20 and the fitness center fully upgraded 8 weeks after start playing GI...from that I invested in stadium, and now, 1 and 1/2 seasons later I will buy the training hall and I will do something for the other skills.

I think the best approach is to start with a lopsided coach -- I started with a defensive coach (and trained tackling & blocking). He wasn't too expensive and I was able to still invest a lot into stadium expansion.

However, given the salary situation of today, I'd probably invest in a fitness coach instead of a defensive coach.

This way, you're not wasting time training with a bad coach (players improve fast on some skills, but salaries don't skyrocket), but you're still putting most of your money into long term investments (stadium, facilities etc).

Also, once your stadium is to your liking, you can get a coach with a better distribution and start to even out your players skills.

I made a view rookie mistakes when i started, and it cost me a little money. Luckily enough im a tight wad and didn't pay over the odds for poor players, so the bad signings i made didn't hurt me too much.

ive upgraded the coaches slightly but not too much. Ive started concentrating on signing young players with high teamwork to build my side around. Now its a case of building up the stadium wich is an expensive job. I won't spend more than 10,000 on players now. MY side is pretty strong for a div 5 team.

Oh and today i receieved a quality trainee. I have 7 human teams in my league but i have by far the strongest side of them all, so i fully expect to go to DIV IV next season, hopefully into a league with my mate, who took over a bot team with 2 weeks left last season and got promoted!!!
