Youth academy increases the number of youth players available to you each week from 2 to 4. The players also have a chance to have higher starting skills than without this facility (skills range from 3 to 6 instead of 2 to 5), but the skill distribution is still random.

by building a youth academy.. does only the numer of available players increase to 4, or do i also get to pick more than just one? cuz otherwise it would be kind of pointless
also what happens if i forget to pick one? do i get to pick two next week or are the "old ones" gone?

I've asked this before in multiple threads and nobody has ever been able to justify the expense. Just seems like a major waist of money to me.

yeah.. i mean if i could get more youngsters per week, i think it would definitely be worth spending all that money.. but as long as i don't know the actual effects it has.. i'm not gonna do anything either..

You still only get to pick one per period.

As for what happens if you forget to pick, I think you lose those players.

As of now there is pretty much no reason to buy the youth academy. It should be the very last thing on everyone's list.

but what's the advantage then? i mean since there are no tip offs, regarding which one of the two youngsters is better, it doesn't help either, if you get to "guess" which one might be the best out of 4, instead of 2 players, righ? i mean i just always pick the youngest one...isn't that what everybody does?

That's the big issue everyone has with it. Some have suggested that maybe we get some kind of hint about the abilities. Doesn't have to be the actual numbers but some kind of scouting report about what their strengths is would be nice.

The only advantage as of now is the slight increase in starting skills. That's hardly enough for 95% of us to spend the money on the academy until we have everything else set.

i see. thanks man...
i really hope they give us those hints you were talkin about.. cuz otherwise, we're all just guessing randomly....Last edited on 2009-05-29 at 21:09

IIRC the admins weren't exactly against the idea and said they've planned on changing some things with the academy. So may in the future we'll get something like that.

I am gonna say to get the youth academy since its cheap enough and the players are much better.
