How important is talent for players when playing in the lower leagues?

So far I haven't placed too much importance on talent for my players. Sure, low talent players will hit a ceiling eventually. But in league V with a still very small stadium I don't think I can't afford very high skills anyway.

On the other hand, who knows where I'll be in 10 seasons. My 16 year old youth pull will only be 26 by then.

if you can afford it to look for talent too, you should go for it. In long term it will help you.

Talent also caps (set a maximum) for Rating. Max rating values can be hit in one to two season of solid play -- so even if you're not training to max skill levels, talent is still important in the shorter term.

Oh. Then I can pretty much fire my newest youth pull. My quarterback has 1.5 star talent and a rating of 2. How high can he go?

Thanks for the info, folks.

I think it's actually 17 except speed and strength.

Did I miss something?

0.5 stars -> 11
...
5 stars -> 20

so 1.5 stars -> 13

7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum
