I believe they did horrible on the first day of this draft.
1. Trading away a 5th pick for two more picks and 3 players(Kenyon Coleman, a defensive end, and Abram Elam, a safety, plus developmental quarterback Brett Ratliff) is understandable.

2. Taking the 17th pick and and trading it for a 6th round pick and moving down two spots.

3. When they did take a pick it was on Alex Mack from California.

The trade did clear up some issues with positions of the Browns team. But I would have taken Michael Crabtree and traded away Braylon Edwards.(Let him drop balls somewhere else. ) What would you guys have done?

N'ah, it makes perfect sense! The owners realized they'll never be as good as the Steelers so they thought: why even bother?

I would have done exactly what they did. If you can get more picks, and improve the offensive line, you are doing a great thing.

But time will tell. Crabtree could end up a Hall of Famer and Mack could be terrible and it would look bad. But if it's the other way around, and especially if just one of the picks they got is used on a surprise player who impacts the team, then it'll be great.

The Browns are more than 1 player from making the Superbowl, so they do need players in bulk, but passing on Crabtree will probably bite them in the ass later

If you look at the way Mangini build teams, then it makes perfect sense to pass on a diva like Michael Crabtree. There were three seperate reports from three different teams, that Crabtree behaved poorly, like a diva and arrogant, during his personal visits at the teams.

And as said, the Browns are more than one players away from the Super Bowl, so it makes sense to try and rebuild a strong team through the draft and that require picks.

I do understand when the Browns need almost anything to get better. So when you need to get better at everything it is better to get players in bulk, instead of one player that could be in time a very good player. That makes sense.

I took a look at Alex Mack and that Mogahamad receiver the Browns got. Alex Mack is just MASSIVE! And i like that in a center. Mogahamed is fast, huge, great route runner, but he can't catch.

I can almost agree with passing on Crabtree, though I think he'll be a great player. The one that gets me is passing on Jeremy Maclin at 17 to trade down 4 spots knowing Philly is taking him if he's there at 19. I'm not a Browns fan, but it is obvious they need to fill a hole that is going to be left by Edwards either this year or next. His inconsistency makes paying him top dollar not a real option in the long term.

Well while im not a browns fan there not a team i hate but can see the point in trading for more picks as its has worked out in the past for Jerry Jones...a man i hate being an eagles fan but the more picks you got the more chances you got of getting a few superstars or even a lot of role players that wont be superstars but are great in different roles

If the WR QB...etc can all do there job i dont see a reason they cant build on there 2007 season and just pretend 2008 didnt happen

I heard the same about Crabtree, but I just don't see it with him. The Chad Johnson's and T.O.'s of the world have no time for ANYONE but themselves. If you listen to Crabtree in interviews, it's all about the team and at times he seems annoyed with questions about how great he is.

Now it could all be a show and in reality he's completely different. But until I see that I just can't believe it.
