Well, the basic questions is that nobody knows which skills/attributes are really important to which positions so far. As long as this question remains unsolved, you can't assign players into different positions efficiently based on skills.

This is most important question of the game. And I am totally uncertain about how anyone will figure it out. I wrote it already somewhere else, but I will repeat it here: It is totally necessary that game staff give us information about basic skills needed for a position. Without that we are rambling in the dark...

Unfortunately, I saw it somewhere in the forum that Admin wants us to figure it out by ourselves.

Indeed, me too.

I like it that way, to be honest. More of a challenge

I am actually a football coach, and I originally tried to asess players based on skills that I'd expect to see, or look for, in players in real life.
I thought that was a sensible way to go.
But then I noticed that 'Blocking' is listed as a Defensive skill, so it's maybe not all that scientific.
Plus, long reach, good balance etc aren't really covered. And since you can't do things like have lighter, weaker linemen to use angle-blocking to try and overcome their physical shortcomings, you're a bit stuck.

I understand where you are coming from, but here's where I am coming from.

I am not a football coach, however, I like you, somewhat know what skills are good for certain positions.

However, what I do know, is that the developers wanted this game to start off simple. I think we are running ahead of ourselves here.

In my experience playing players out of position isn't too much of a hinderance yet. I think it will be more when we have fully trained players that you will see the penalties really show through. I've had one player swap his natural playing position on my team so far so I'll let you know if he totally dominates now

osinho there is a decent guide to this topic in the grid iron discussions forum. We're all still whistling in the dark at this point but some general assumptions can be made OL and DL need STR WR and CB need Speed, everything else is a mix which we are all figuring out.
