How does the season work around here?

The only frustration I'm having with this particular site is the lack of information about some of the basics. I read through all the FAQ's, and several threads but still couldn't find out how the seasons work. I inherited a team that was 6-6. Won my first game, woohoo. I see that my league is divided into color bands. There is a green, some blues, then some reds. Does that indicate something to do with playoffs? How do I find out when/who is in playoffs. Do you get promoted? When? Thanks to anyone who can help!

green -> promotes
blue -> stays
red -> one division level down (if possible)

no playoffs, oply promotion

When? End of season, beginning of may for season 2, pls look at schedule

Also, if you click on "Match Archive" at the bottom of your club's matches link, you will see the full schedule of games both already played and yet to be played for season 2. That should help you see when the season ends. I am told that between season 1 and 2 there was one Saturday with no league games (i.e. a one week off season). However, you can schedule friendlies during the off season.

Hope that helps some.

No playoffs? So basically, if you win your division you win the championship.

Are there any thought of changing this? I mean the playoffs are more interesting. On this way it looks like soccer.

I once suggested (and it was quickly shot down) that we should have a divisional top 4 team playoff were the #1 seed plays #4 and 2 plays 3 and the winners of those two games face each other for the chance to advance levels.

If there is enough interest and it isn't too hard on the Admins, maybe something could be eventually set up. I don't really mind it the way it is now though, this is a fun game.

With playing every league team twice, raw standings is a pretty good way to determine promotion. Most teams have equal SOS by virtue of this style, and that's the only problem I have with a playoff style system. When it's not feasible for every team to play every other team, then a playoff is the best system.
