Division Table - Form category

Hey, my first post here. Got a team about 3 weeks ago.
My only question so far is ... on the Division Table page there is a standard statistic breakdown of the team standings. At the end is the "form" category which is a set of red or green boxes. Obviously green is good and red is bad but ... WTF does this mean and what is the significance of any particular box being red or green? What affects this? What can I tell from it?

The form represents results of your team's last 8 matches. Green box means win, red means loss
