heh...I was always a big Fighting Irish fan because of the Irish connection! However, I was in Columbus Ohio last year and really got into the football there...Go Buckeyes!!

I have to say, that I love seeing what little college ball there is on TV in the UK.I think the hits are far harder as players fight for the right to join the big boys in the NFL. Also interesting formations used too (wishbone anyone?).

All intelligent and well thought out choices. I find you to be among the best Humanity has to offer. Not that O-H, say, I-O, am biased in this Choice

For the question about Bulldogs in Washington, there is Gonzaga, but they don't play football. Pretty good basketball team though.

My team is THE University Of Alabama....though i still dont see why THE is put before ever school as if there another one with a similar name that must be a ACC/Big 10 thing

It was a dumb idea by our former president about 5-10 years ago to get the legal name of the university out. Legally it's The Ohio State University, and for some she thought this was important that people knew.

She then later on left and said that all the students were stupid and did nothing but party and have drunken orgies, so we all kind of hate her around here now. Personally, I think that the only thing stupider than putting the emphasis on the The by OSU fans is Miami fans calling themselves the U.

As for Ohio State not being able to beat the SEC, it's one of those things that every major school has. Such as, Alabama is 0-7-1 all time against Texas. There's always a school or conference that is in a major school's head. Plus, no one ever mentions how Ohio State beat and tied LSU in the late 80s, and how the bowl drought started in the late 70s. Therefore, 0-9 is really 1-9-1 in that time frame. Not much better I know, but still something for people to keep in mind.

You have to turn back the clock a few decades to get to the first Buckeye from The Ohio State University

The Buckeyes may choke in the championship game, but at least we get there (ie we beat the teams we should)

I always wondered, does "roll tide" refer to their rolls of fat? j/k

someday SEC fans. there will be a playoff. hopefully it's like the NCAA's where they choose a neutral field instead of a warm weather haven every time, and SOMEDAY you stay at home braggarts will have to venture out of the safe little confines of warm weather football, and realize why so many of our "athletes" who are "too slow" are playing on Sunday. The worst part of college football is the fact that there is no need for over half the teams to develop anything other than fastest team wins, B.S. St Louis Rams style football. Just once before I die, I want to see a SEC team come up north and play some one in the rain, or dare I dream, snow.

Tennessee's coming to Columbus in about 10 years! Too bad it's in September and therefore still pretty warm up here.

But I agree. The SEC is great and is probably either the best or 2nd best conference right now(Big 12 is there too). The Big Ten is a distant third. BUT, the top teams in any conference can compete with anyone. Put Ohio State in the SEC, they still win 9-10 games a year. Why? Because 1 the SEC teams would have to come to Columbus late in the year when it's cold and 2 we'd dip into the SEC's recruiting areas and get some speed of our own.

When you look at where most of the Big Ten's bowls are played, they are in domes or at the least in warm weather climates, and usually on turf. All of that leads to speed being at an advantage. Now, I'm not using this as an excuse, being a national title team doesn't get smoked the way we did. But if you put those games in cold weather outside, we at least hang in and possibly win.

Which brings me to my final point. Why do SEC fans ride on the success of every other team in their conference? Did you hear Ohio State fans brag because Michigan won the national title in 97? No. Then why are Alabama fans bragging about LSU? Why are Georgia fans bragging about Florida? It makes no sense to me. Sure, I occassionally root for Michigan when they play teams like USC or Miami, even Notre Dame. But when they lose I'm still happy. Seems like some SEC teams have an inferiority complex and therefore decide that the other 11 teams can help them out. I'm sorry, but when Vanderbilt fans brag to Big Ten fans, I draw the line(there's none here but I've seen it before).
