I haven't played for many years and have come back for some nostalgia and perhaps a few rivalries.

The transfer market used to be a good source for squad building, but there's hardly anyone listed at the moment. Am I going to have to rely on youth pulls to flesh out my team with good prospects?

Good grief. There goes the neighbourhood.

Were you in HK or am I mixing you up with another Bluebird who had the misfortune to stumble in?

My guess (because I've just been through a few weeks of rapid acquisition of talented players) is that maybe you've hit the season at the worst possible time (managers still in the throes of early season optimism). Give it six to ten weeks and some will be looking to cut some fat from their wage bill.

Though having said all that you might be looking for lower wage guys. Let me know if you've specific needs. I might have someone (as a result of, as I said, signing a load of overpaid prima donnas who've helped me storm to a wildly impressive 2 and 2. Sob).

There is only a small amount of human teams left in the game bud and the transfer market reflects that. Occasionally a couple of well trained players or youngsters who have potential with decent physicals will appear but its few and far between.

You also have an influx of decent players (sometimes) when a player leaves the game and puts there best players up for sale. The lack of quality players on the market also means inflated prices as there are not enough to go around. This results in players that would have gone for a few hundred thousand a couple of years ago now costing a couple of million.

Trying to pick up youngsters with high teamwork skills along with your own decent youth picks and training them to be dual position players is probably your best way of building a team now.

Yeah, you're right. It's a season of stadium and facility building for me. Perhaps next off season I'll hit the transfer market to bag a few gems.

Yes, I was a player in China for a while and also in the top division of the Atl&scan Europe league before that. That's a good memory you've got!

Question for any Veteran GI players. I have a RB with 5 Talent but his consistency and Teamwork are both an abysmal 2. Is his 5 talent make him worth it to keep or should I just cut him because of his lack of consistency and teamwork

4.5* and 5* star talent players (almost) always have value to somebody.

I feel that low consistency is ok for players with low skills. Consistency allows for skills to raise or lower each game (maybe during the game). If the starting skills are low, there's a better chance for the skills to be slightly higher during game time, but they can only go so low since there is a bottom cap of 1. Long term this switches as their skills increase and max, it more likely that skills will be lower since there is an upper cap of 20 (supposedly). All in all, the change isn't too much either way I don't believe. Maybe a point or two.
<<< Keep in mind, we have an idea of how consistency affects the game, but only the developers know for certain the true effect and they aren't telling. The rest of us are essentially guessing based on what has been said and what we (think we) see in the games. >>>

Teamwork will have more effect as it helps determine how fast a player gains skills. It's not a huge factor, but it does slow it down a bit. Players get teamwork/2 points towards their skills each week. With teamwork of 2, that grants 1 point (in addition to facilities/coaches/base pts/etc.). It takes 100 pts to increase a skill by 1. This gives you an idea of teamwork's effect. With you having a new team and likely no facilities to train, it's already going to take you some time to train players until you can afford those facilities and coaches.

If I were in your situation, I would put the player up for sale and place an ad in the ads section to make sure people know about him. If you can sell him for enough, you can likely build your stadium, build some facilities and hire coaches at a much faster pace. (I think normal is about a season and a half to two seasons if I remember right, but it's been a few years. LOL)

Good luck and welcome to GI.
