Personally far happier to be moving to Vegas than if it had been LA but there didn't seem to be any realistic way of getting a stadium in Oakland. I hope to go to Vegas to see a game in their first season there(regular season home opener ideally).

Interested to hear any raiders fans from OAK/LA/LV opinions and other international raidernation members thoughts on whether it will make you more or less inclined to travel to the states to watch a home game.

It's funny as the City of Oakland were going on about having a rival stadium package to keep them there, but have done absolutely nothing about it for the last 10-20 years! It's the City's fault they're leaving, but can see any Oakland based fans being annoyed by losing their team for a 2nd time. Having met some of the true raider fans (Gorilla Rilla and the guy who's always with him with the face paint and skull necklace) at the Wembley game I suspect they will travel anywhere but I guess the hit to the crowd could be those who are less bothered about it and won't travel. That being said, I'm sure there will be plenty of new fans attending from Vegas or other places in Nevada as this is now their team (no other local rival teams to keep people away). Will also possibly see a bit of a tourist boost going to games whilst in Vegas for a weekend; I've got a few mates who are UK based Raiders fans and they're already talking about making a trip to do Vegas and a Raiders game.

I never really get why it is up to the cities. Teams make enough money and should not be bidding cities against each other for the team.

Because the cities gain a good bit of the revenue from not only the new stadium, but also the fans spending money in their city. They just need the teams to stick around for 20 years or so to make money

Why pay for your own stadium when someone else will pay for it?

Since the Vegas stadium will not be ready until the 2020 season, I think Raider Nation will be in San Antonio TX for a season until Vegas opens. Maybe we can show the NFL that we deserve a team too, alas Jerry Jones and Bud Adams don't want that to happen.

By which time the team may also want a new stadium anyway. Being based in a good city is a two way street. The team also gets plenty from being in a city such as a nice base of fans that they risk when they move. Hopefully decent transport links to games for their fans - plenty of places to show their merchandise. Those teams should remember that the fans coming to their games are coming from that community. Look at what it meant to New Orleans when they won the superbowl - I can't see a win from a mercenary team generating quite the same passion.

Think of the fan who grew up supporting this team in Oakland going to every game and now can't make it? It shows no respect for those who helped the team become what they have become and anywhere else in the world it would cause a much more serious stir. A team should be part of its location and have a bit of pride in their community. This is trying to make a quick buck.

Maybe it is a quirk of the NFL being such a closed league but not everywhere having teams.

Do they? I remember more than one report about how having an NFL team in the city costs locality more than they gain, which is marginal revenue. It certainly doesn't mount up to $500-700 million cities pay for stadiums these days.

In this case the $750million raised by Vegas is coming from visitors staying in the city in hotels so no money coming out of local funding or resident tax payers. Oakland never had that option as its not a massive tourist trap(tourists visiting the bay area mostly stay in San Fran. Oakland was never going to dump that level of tax hike on the locals but the money made from land leases and visitors to the city for games when they move will be felt by the community a lot i reckon

I don't remember where exactly but I read somewhere a few days ago that the city of Saint Louis is still paying for his football stadium
