So the Pats are trading like an NBA team, two of the best NFL RB's are looking for their market, the best WR are getting 1 year contract, FB are getting paid, and the Browns are looking like a clever organisation...

The Brock Osweiler saga is almost unbelievable!

Why are teams trading with New England? Don't they know they'll look like idiots by the end of they year?

1. The Patriots win, and elite athletes want to win. This dynamic ensures that when players have options of where they could go, and they are in a situation where their team has to send them somewhere, the Patriots get the talent they want to have.

2. The Patriots are well run and it's very very rare they don't have a stockpile of compensatory picks and a decent amount of cap to play with.

3. Other teams are not as well run and it's common that a team with talent will be in a bad cap situation with players that only the Pats have the combination of money and available picks to trade.

4. Three way deals are really rare in the NFL.

5. Our coach has a history of helping fired GMs and admin staff of other teams when they need to revitalize their career after a failure. That builds a lot of good will.

6. Perhaps folks just want to see Brady get his sixth as quickly as possible so he retires. Not likely to be the case, but it's a thought. Gisele wants him home and six pretty much seals his legacy.

Really rather simple.

Yeah, because every scrub in the league has 5 SB rings...

Doubt many people could name the only other guy to have 5 rings and I also doubt that he was as instrumental in winning those 5 as Brady has been. Pretty sure the legacy is sealed already (although I'm sure Brady wouldn't mind being the only player with 6 rings)

Pats trade like this every off season; it's what works for them and the way they build a team

A few years ago, yes. AP is still something of a workhorse but is on the downward slope. Charles has fallen off the slope and should just give up.

Nobody wants to risk a long term deal on Jeffrey at the money he's after as he's had a few issues recently (injury and suspension). This is basically another franchise year for Jeffrey to prove himself and get the contract he wants, but at a team that couldn't use a franchise tag on him. He has the talent to do it but whether he can play a full season and produce the goods is up to him. If he does well, he gets paid, if he doesn't a 1 year deal for the Eagles was the right thing to do.

I wouldn't go that far; it's still the Browns after all... Osweiller isn't a bad move all things considered, but it's a very Browns thing to do that probably won't work out in the long run because they're the Browns. The only thing that will be smart of the Browns this off season is to not trade away the #1 pick and take Garrett, but knowing the Browns they'll miss out on him somehow and take another eventual bust because that's just what they do.

Oh and then there's the Bears, but I'm used to it. Lot of money to throw at what will end up being a back up QB, but hey, anything to finally get Cutler out of there. Hopefully the bulk of it is on performance incentives, but on the outside just seems like terrible homework. I will reserve final judgment until after the draft
