Lucky punch for me today. But I really needed that win.
5-4 looks much better than 4-5.

I am rather happy with first half of the season.
Three close wins and three close losses - only one disaster.
That's OK

Very exciting top div at the moment. Halfway and it looks to be the most open title race in years.

Gobabeb, who gave themselves a 0% chance of competing at the top find themselves in the lead at 7-2. My rating of them as favourites looks justified, and if they can go 7-2 for the second half of the season they'll have a good chance of bringing a title home for Sweden.

They'll have to overcome Seattle next week though, and it's still difficult to measure their strength given they've had two extra walkovers. Maybe they will take advantage of this bonus, or maybe it's the bonus that is giving them false hope? They know how to win the title though...

As do Weasels of course, having written my own chances off after a nervous start, we've put together a nice run of wins to go 6-3. If the games were 59 minutes long we'd be 9-0, but I don't want to dwell on that. We will of course give it our all - we've even bought back our old Quarterback for the title run-in.

Brixton on the other hand seem to have petered out a little after a great start. It should be noted that they are still 6-3 though, and are very much capable of making up a one-game deficit. The title could easily be going to South London.

Then again one cannot rule out Dragones either. They had an extra competitive game to win against Newbury before their firesale, and have the disadvantage of points difference to overcome after their bot against Seattle. Considering that, Dragones league position is maybe slightly lower than it otherwise would be, which means they must be as strong as any in the league.

Elisa Vikings too have had a disadvantage of giving a game away due to injury. It's a tough ask to win the title from 5-4, but they have the personnel, and are within range.

Fionia Swans are also 5-4, but have a young team that will improve into the season. I'd say a team on 5-4 would normally need to go 8-1 in the second half to really challenge, but given that two teams are not competing and the chances of being caught in a relegation dog-fight are diminishing by the week, there's still a chance, even from seventh.

I'm sorry to say that Hitchin now need a miracle from here to escape the drop, which takes the pressure off the teams in mid-table. Newbury's firesale has consigned them to re-building in a lower division, although I have seen teams with smaller stadiums hold their own at the sharp end, so I can't bank on them being absent from the higher divisions for long. Salamanca have gone bot after a wonderful run in the top-flight.

So take your pick from seven.

Nice write-up Abcat. I don't think I'll be challenging at the end - I've lost to Hyenas, Weasels & Dragones this season and those 3 are the favourites in my mind.

Hyenas vs Seahawks & Weasels vs Dragones up next week. Big games

Huge 21 point comeback from Gobabeb, and there's a ball game on there.

thanks to miss dimple outsmarting me we have four team tied at 7-3. I am new in Div. 1, is it usually that close on top?

Not normally this close - usually someone will be a win or two in front by this stage.

Weasels & Seahawks the form teams at the moment, I've got a big job on my hand next week.

Swans vs Hyenas another close call. I don't remember such a competive division, anyone's to win

Tough loss... I need to win both my next two games against Swans & Hyenas to stay in the chase or I'll be starting planning for next season. Not holding out too much hope

1 vs 2, Weasels vs Seahawks is beginning to get tasty...

Meanwhile Hitchin are starting to play football, and that miracle I said they needed to avoid relegation might just be materialising.
