Rosters are likely to get bigger, rather than smaller, as the league pushes for an 18 game season with the associated attrition.

Rosters are already bigger with the practice squad factored in and the injured reserve. 18 games schedule is another crazy thing that shouldnt happen. The sport would be better served with more padded practice and a 14 games schedule.

That will never happen since the current practice games get very little attendance and television ratings compared to the regular season games.

I think the talent pool is there. What is lacking is the combination of practice / development league / roster space. So i am optimistic that the players that are lost on roster crunch could be adequately trained to at least filler level if there would be additional roster spot, coaching attention, and associated practice.

ù

Padded practice, not practice games who are useless anyway. One practice game would be enough, maybe 2.

Agree that we will never see regular season games go down. We can only hope they dont go up. If they push it to 18 games I will stop following the NFL and just follow college/european football

Except that there have been very few awesome games recently; most of them have been pretty poor, including all four games on Wild Card Weekend.

I missed a point above how to produce players and roster spots. By eliminating the kickoff, significant number of special teamers would be available for other spots.

haha Each roster does not have a significant number of 'only' special teamers.
