United Kingdom 38-35 Argentina

This is not Ashley Borland's first match as QB, but maybe his most important, and while some pundits may need convincing on his suitability to replace Corey McMillan, I am firmly settled. While the completion stats were lowish, this does not tell the whole story, and when the chips were down, Ashley came up with the goods, throwing a crucial TD pass to level the scores late in the 4th quarter, before leading an overtime drive to within field goal range to take the game.

The Argentine forum were highly inflamed and roused by this result, showing how much the UKNT is still the team to beat even after our recent slump. And as well they ought to be, as on another day the win would surely have been theirs. Their defence shut us down again and again yielding just two TDs in the first half. The second half opened up a little more, with no team failing to make it to the end zone until the 4th quarter. The UK equalled the scores with 3.40 left on the clock, and our D made a vital hold on the 65 yard line to keep us in the game, and take it to overtime.

We won the coinflip and made it downfield with the help of a 37 yard Christopher Jamie Duffy catch (that's one yard short of the record for a non-scoring completion). Though we were stumped on the 82 yard line, Jayden Jack Kemp put over the field goal to take the win for UK.

Next up is Portugal, managed by our own Vince Everett. Tune in on the 27th folks.

Just had a funny moment checking the match orders - there are some saved match orders in there from previous managers, Phiba, Paulo, Cameron, and my own orders from World Cup 9. The oldest ones are titled 'Strata Wk1', which would have been from World Cup 6 back in June 2012.

This is more than I could have hoped for. Made a couple of tweaks and the old guys have done themselves proud.

On to Colombia - UK are 10-14 down after 12 mins. A very rare exchange occurred just here with two successive failed 4th down conversions. It gives me great pleasure to be involved in a game where both managers really throw down the gauntlet and go for it.

Trying our very hardest to lose it right at the end, but I think we didn't have enough time to give away more than the 21 points in the last 10 mins.

Nice finish, a little too nip and tuck, unlike the USA vs Canada score...sheesh.

I don't understand the Canadian set-up at all. Two bot formations in a row. and no injuries?

And I don't understand the New Zealand vs Argentina result either. Two bot defences in a row from New Zealand, but Argentina fielded a bot defence as well, so the score ended up 119-112.

Check out the Norway v Slovakia game

Thought I'd set a bottle defence at first
