after the recent thread about another manager game I thought I should mention football identity (footballidentity.com) it's not exactly your typical manager game, you basically "are" a player in a team, you train this player you control this player during the matches (it's turn based matches) aso I just recently started playing it but it's great fun so far =)

The practice matches are kinda boring but just wait until you play with you team, without bots but I guess it's not for everyone =P

Do you need to be online at a certain time of day/week to play?

Yes, but you can pick the times and the days (2 per week) that you want to play your matches and it will allocate you to certain time slots and leagues respectively from what I can see. I picked Sunday and Wednesday I think at 10pm at night, so I know I should pretty much always be available. Just done my first half, seems a bit better than the test matches but most people are bots and I don't know what I'm doing yet, so still not grwat

Just to add to that, you can choose not to play the games if you want, or if you aren't around; there's an option where you can sign up to say you're available for the next game. Also, even if you are playing and you miss a turn the AI just takes over and moves your guy around so you aren't just stood around doing nothing.

I found the first game I played a bit annoying as people playing on my team are idiots and don't have a clue about football by the looks of it. When I got the ball I was playing passes to feet and moving to space etc, they were hoofing it long ball over the top expecting the CF to beat a centre half for speed which, when you're in the worst league and nobody has any decent stats, is never going to happen. This game ended 0-0 with 1 shot on goal all game and that wasn't even on target. The guy was through on goal but out to the left (having actually successfully latched onto a long ball) with 2 guys making forward runs inside the box unmarked and the guy shot near post where the keeper was an put it into the side netting. So frustrating having been playing for an hour only for him to blow the only real chance of the game

Ok, so, I haven't looked it, yet and doing so would probably answer my question. Would the option be there for a group of people from GI to band together and make certain we all played on the same team in the same matches? That would give the chance to guarantee you were playing on a team where everyone was on the same page and you'd most likely see a team that would quickly gel and start dominating most of their games. If you ever played WoW, we did this sort of thing for battlegrounds with pre-made groups and you'd just steamroll anyone that came up against you in an Arathi Basin, etc. If that's doable, it might be fun to get a group together to play like that.

well I wouldn't say I know all about it but from the looks of it you start out as Un employed and the get a trail contract with the team you choose, of the once that offers you a contract so it would be quite easy to form a team together as long as one of us controlled a team

Yeah I can feel your pain, the problem generally is that when it comes to game date any place not filled by a player will be played by a bot and the bots are really bad
