True about retirement. Well we have good QB's on the roster, and let's not forget Gone Fishin (yes they're bot, but whatever if he's good enough) has a good QB in Cody Theis, and he's only 28. And the quarterback of Michigan State Spartans is good and young. He's already on the roster.

That Michigan State Spartans QB is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so yea, he's great. I'm just sore because I got in a bid war for him with the Spartans a couple of seasons ago and decided the price had gotten too high for me. I've been kicking myself ever since.

My take is this, use the best players out there. Other than QB and Kicker, all other positions should be filled with age 30 and below. At 31, they are just losing too many points, likely 2 in speed, strength, agility and stamina by the time the WC games roll around. At 32, they have now lost at least 5 points in speed, strength, agility and stamina, making them worthless.

Stamina matters for QB, so we need to review what we have in the reserves to see if it's time to throw a going away party for the current starter. Keep it simple and if you Phi needs help with scouts, spread the word, we have tons of scouts each week between TD and Div III that we can help out with to find the best players.

As for bot teams, we have to leave that choice up to the current manager, but at a minimum, bot players should be a season to season decision and only if they are fully trained. Once bot players reach 31, they are cut. There are simply too many USA players out there being trained on human teams, we just have to find them.

I fully agree with using the best players. That's pretty much my point though I may have rambled off from it. It's a one season deal each season. We aren't picking players this season to develop for next season. We aren't prepping players this season to replace aging players next season. Next season is next season. We need the best players that are playing now like you said. I don't think we should dismiss a player just because he's old or on a bot team. If he's obviously the better player, use him. Now if it's close between him and a younger player or one still on a managed team with more room to develop, then make the smart choice and take the latter.
Each season it seems there's always talk of replacing the old guys or bot team guys and these players seem to be jettisoned in favor of players that could develop into better players, but are definitely steps down from the player they are replacing.
I don't want to see us drop a player with 20's at the key skills because he's 31 or so and losing some fitness skills (especially if he doesn't need them) or is on a bot team, for a player that's got 17's or 18's because he's younger and/or has the potential to be developed. Let him get developed and use him next season.

And thanks for the votes of confidence. We'll see how the actual voting turns out though. Whoever wins, I too have lots of information from scouting reports I'll freely pass on.

Anybody who wants to help out with scouting, I suggest just scouting a few players that have $80,0000 - $100,000/wk salary this week. Avoid wasting scouts on any player already on the NT as the new NT coach will be able to see their stats when he takes over (I think). Next week, hopefully, the new NT manager will be able to organize the scouting a bit to take full advantage of everyone wanting to help.

With regards to QB, I'd say age does matter. First of all, the stamina penalty means that, after a few seasons, the player will only be at 3* for the 2nd half of each game. When we factor in the negative effect of reduced agility, a QB who's losing fitness points must be replaced. With the importance of passing in this game, a 3* QB for the second half of a match isn't enough in III, never mind NT's.

I'm not as sure about K's. Stamina, again, will reduce their match rating to 3*. However, 20/20 kickers are so uncommon that a 40-year old 20/20 player might still be at the same level as a 25-year old 12/12 player.

The Stamina drop off isn't that bad. Most of my starters range from 9 to 15 stamina and all finish their games with 3.5* or better on the stat sheet. Most seem to finish with 4.5*.

Don't understand the stamina issue. Stamina doesn't reduce match rating to 3*. My starting QB has Stamina 5 and scores 5* at the start of the game and 4,5* at the end.

And again, I'm not sure if players on bot teams even lose these pts.

Maybe we could contact the admins and ask. It seems to me that this isn't a game engine question that the admins don't want to answer, like the skills for each position, but rather a question similar to some of the ones found in the FAQ.
