Do bye teams in the cup get money for advancing to the next round? They don't have the income from the game, nor do they get a chance to win.

For prize money, yes they do. No compensation for no income though...

Nope, they get shafted. It's been mentioned, apparantly it's tough luck if it's you.. that's how the game works.. ie, badly in this aspect!

Are there byes only in the first round?

Seems like the higher seated teams have byes?

i don't think it's higher seeded teams only, but I could be wrong. I have a theory, but it's only a theory mind you no real research has gone into it at this point. that since the teams with the biggest stadiums get the home game in the cup that the seeding is slotted by biggest stadium. Does Paopao have a bye?

after posting Paopao does in fact have a bye. I know Karma is going to hate this but if this is the case then it is probably in the best interest of the game. the "richest" teams get to sit out a week because they are the most likely to recover.

Karma scouted out a d V team with 600 seats that got a bye as well theory is taking on water fast.

My theories so far have been:

- All in the highest leagues : Incorrect
- All who got promoted : Incorrect
- All who had a first week Away game (therefore leveraging the "off season" construction advantage) : Incorrect
- All who have a mid-season 2 Away games streak (which gives a construction advantage mid-season) : Incorrect
- And I'm pretty sure Merc's size theory is wrong due to at least 2 sub 1000 stadiums I've found with 1st round byes.

My conclusion is still that's it totally random. Which as Yoshi mentioned in our last "discussion" is fair by the nature that it treats everyone the same eventually - the very essence of randomness
However I hold that random is a p**s poor way to decide something that has such a huge financial impact on a team.

yeah my theory is looking worse and worse as well. Perhaps culling from the highest and lowest stadiums?

Pure opinion here but perhaps we should use the largest stadium or highest teams get the bye.

- they can most afford to miss a game
- promotes a small amount of catchup for teams who come in later.

Just my theory. Feel free to rip it to shreds.

Forget paopao! Palomar, mod in HT, has over 10,000. Soon as I'm out of the badger cup I'm going to try to play him. And franchize. And join another one. Maybe I'll try a few others.
