Is there any benefit to playing a player in his best position? For example, my kicker has a kicker rating of only 2, so I am wanting to play another player at K for my games. Is there any drawback to doing this, or with any other position?

There is a penalty when playing someone out of their 'natural position', the position that they are used to. You can play a player in any position and they will get better at that position, but until they are better at that position than they are with their current natural position they will incur a penalty for playing 'out of place'.

Last season some teams had success keeping players in their natural positions and seeing the players' postional ratings rise.
Other teams has success guessing the best skills for a position and matching those skills sets to their players ignoring natural positions.
It's your decision which route you take, you could even have a mix of both types of player.
Imho the best players will be those that play in their natural positions and have the best skills for the position they play.
Also bear in mind the slow pace of training at the moment because very few teams have full 20 rated coaches and a training hall so it will take a while to train positional skills.

gentlemen, all of you have provided good info, but a thread title with something like favorite positions makes me sorry I'm a mod a little bit. This screams for some inappropriate joke....*sigh* c'est la vie

Good ones guys.

About how long does it usually take for a player to adapt to a new FP?

Months if he doesn't have it listed...

It depends. If your guy is rated say 4 stars at QB, you want him to play RB, and RB is not listed anywhere on his coach comments ... you can expect it to take quite a while. However, when I first took over my team, most of the player's positional ratings at their best position were 1 or 1.5 stars, so their new positions took over fairly quickly - I think most of my guys actually converted within 3 or 4 games.

my experience is the same as Bowlerdudes positiona; rating < 2 it should be weeks. PR > 2 at least a month and a half.
