5 Star Talent Advantages

Hi all Managers, moderators, admins and extinguished guests!

I was wondering on the advantages of a 5 star TALENTED player?

I know a 4.5 star TALENTED player will eventually be a 5 star rated player, but, i need to know whats the main advantages of a 5 star talent over a 4 star talent. Some managers seem to think its the same value to sell their players. I would prefer 5 star because it sounds elite. But could someone give me a well rounded opinion or characterized pro/con scenario of the advantages of a 5 star player, please.

I think it increases the game day rating depending on the consistency of the player. so if it is true a 5 star player would have better game day ratings (average) than a 4.5 star talented player...Cheers.

The most obvious thing is that max skills can go to 20, rather than 19 for a 4.5 talent. BPOS maxes at 5 for both, so no difference there.

next to no difference between 4.5 and 5.0.

it does not effect game day ratings in any way.

both can get to 20 skill easily. one will just have a 1 in 3 chance going from 19 to 20.

4.5 talent skills can go to 20 as well, it just may take a bit longer.

From FAQ:
7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum.

So, there's really no difference between 4.5* and 5* talent players. The difference between a 3.5*/4* talent and 4.5*/5* talent is the extra .5* BPOS rating. And in my experience, that .5* does make a big difference.

A 5 star ]i]could go for a bit more money, but that and the fact that getting to 20 is a bit harder are the only differences between 4½ and 5.

Yeah, a quick scout of the WC semi-finalists will show that.

But one has to ask the question of the benefit for hitting 20...

Economy:
Hitting 20 will cost you $100.000 a week compared to hitting 19 ($85.000/week) or 18 ($70.000/week). Stopping at 17 is actually better... only around $57.000/week, which could give you two players for the cost of one at 20. Remember - $100.000 a week is almost 2 million a season and that is the same you make in a good home game. (Of which you only have 9 excl. Cup).

Performance:
Does a 20 catching player perform better than a 17 catching player? I have not seen it on those players I can see (as NT and owner). Passing is so much more up to the QB as I see it. When we look at the other positions, I see no better performance from 20 tackling or blocking players than for guys with 17-19.

Sell value:
Would you buy a player with a wage of $100.000/week? Or would you double that transfer sum for a 4½ (or even 4) star talent player with 17 in skill? I would. 5 star players go too high and the little benefit there is in capping (more easily) to 20 is almost null.

So... Are there any advantages to 5 star players? No. Disadvantages... hmmm... yes. I know there is at least one less bidder out there for them, since I will not break the bank for them.

The talent level limits the maximum skill level, not the minimum. Just because you can train them to 20 doesn't mean you should. I buy 4.5/5* players because of the extra BPOS they can get. This extra BPOS clearly effects game day performance but not salary costs at all. I have no intention of letting any of them get to 20 in skills.

Exactly my point, but I think I should have taken one more cup of coffee before I emptied my thoughts on the forum.

That extra BPOS is the winner.

dont train beyond the skills they have then u d save about 50000 each week over training them to 17
