Does it make him block better on runs to that side? Or does the positioning determine whether he only blocks when a run is made to his side. Eg: would a FB on the left only block when runs by the HB are made down the left, but wouldn't block for any runs down the right

And is there any way to get the FB to make some carries WHEN I've also chosen a HB. So far the only way I've ever managed to get a FB carrying the ball is when I've not selected a HB, leaving the FB as my only RB

Thinking back to seasons 1-3, I think I had most success in my running game placing my fullback to the flank where I directed the play, and having two halfbacks, one behind the full-back, and the best running-back in the centre, and he would get almost all the action.

I didn't have that much success early on though.

If I remember correctly, long ago it was figured out that which RB got the ball running which direction went something like this.

When running to the left
HB/L : FB/L : HB/C : FB/C : HB/R : FB/R

When running to the right
HB/R : FB/R : HB/C : FB/C : HB/L : FB/L

When running up the middle
HB/C : FB/C : HB/L or R (determined randomly) : FB/L or R (determined randomly)

When a play starts and run direction is determined the engine will pick the first available player in the appropriate list as the ball carrier.

Again, this is an old mind trying to remember something that was posted a couple of years ago so I may be off a bit.

exactly right

when running to 1 side stacking your OL that side is good, but if your passing then you waqnt your best at OT then a decent C next

I think the stats from my Steelers Cups show that DE's make more sacks than DT's while DT's make more pressures, but I can't find the thread where I had a reply with it...

So I would put my best at OT, but make sure my C/G are strong since pressures are just as bad as sacks since they never end in a completion.

I think your thread is here (see link below), but it doesn't show that DT's make pressures, it shows that DE's do ALL the damage ...i.e. Sacks & Pressures. Unless I've misinterpreted it.

Thanks!!! I knew it was there... somewhere...

And I stand corrected. DE's do the damage, so just put your best O-Linemen at OT if you are passing. If you are running, I would put my two best O-Linemen on that side where I would run. Along with a blocking TE.

This is brilliant. I've been wondering about what effect the direction of attack might have on where a pass is directed, or if it affects running plays.
Whilst we're on the subject of running plays could someone tell me what effect is had by my positioning of my Fullback, either left, middle or right?

having a Fb on the right flank and a hb on the left flank did not really result in more yards on the right side
However if you have 1HB 2 Fbs the yardage seems better on the side with the better Fb.

If the fb and hb are in the same flank it seemed like the fb blocks on every play to every side- speculation.

Move the fullback away from the flank your hb is in- he ll get some carries
