Difference between FB and HB?

What is the difference between allocating a RB as either a FB or a HB?

Does a HB run better and more?

Does a FB block better and run less?

Do we know if a FB blocks for a HB on a running play?

Carrying and blocking abilities are dependent on their skill levels, not their positions.

Running more or less is dependent on how they are positioned in the tactics/lineups. For example, it the HB line up directly behind the FB, then the FB solely block and the HB solely runs. If you stack the FB sideways, the HB run one direction with a blocker, the other without. The FB will also only run one direction, and without a block cos he is the blocker.

We know the FB blocks as we have been told previously by the devs.

I'll have to check my games, but I could have sworn I played the same opponent with the same three players lined up as 3 FBs / 0 HBs and then as 3 HBs / 0 FBs and the HBs ran much better.

Yeah, that's what I thought might be the case. And with the 3 FBs you'd get better QB protection than with 3 HBs maybe.

Maybe the reason a HB might run better is due to being lined up in the first place to do so. And also a FB might block better since that is what he is lined up to do. Not according to Project's reply.

I wonder if the other 2 HBs block for the ball carrier in the 3 HB setup or are they just like decoys?

I'm of the belief that FB's have the potential with a roll to pick up linebackers when they rush. They also will block for a HB if you have them lined up to the same side or both in the center slots. My guys seem to run just fine when I line them up as a single back in any of the FB slots or HB slots. I have not tried lining them up at HB for strictly passing games, so I can't say anything about pass protection there. I've also tried 1, 2 and 3 FB's and actually had a terrible game with 3 FB's, so I use 1 or 2 and have had good success with both.

When you tried 3 FBs, were they similar players? I know on defense the game engine randomly picks from the players you put on the field, so your better off playing one good safety than you are playing one good and one bad safety. I'm wondering if the same principle might apply to blocking FBs.

In my practice with FBs it´s the same as with Safeties,WR,TE and so on.
If you have one good and one bad on the field, the engine mostly take the bad one.
