In the lowest league, maybe Rushing is not too bad an idea if your team doesn't have the passing components (QB/WR/TE etc) and some of the teams in that division won't have a great Defense either .......

Maybe it was just general advice.

In my experience though, rushing only works marginally better against a bot defence, and in all other scenarios I can think of, a passing offence is better, even against a beginner's team.

Well I started very recently. For my first two games I used an I formation with two TE's and a single WR. It seemed promising based on the match against the bot team, but proved very unproductive against a human. My initial defense was a 4-3, again, great against the bots, lousy against a pass happy human. That being said, I am not revising my play book a bit. For offense I just put in a halfback set(one HB, 2 TEs, 2 WR's) and for defense I am going to a 3-4. Hopefully that will improve performance on both sides of the ball. If I could set it up and ensure proper blocking schemes would work, I'd run a double wing offense and a 33 stack defense.

If I rush... eg. against a weak humanoid or a ++BOT++ team, I line up with 1WR/2TE and 2HB's. But I don't think the TE's matter since I've heard that blocking TE's don't exist.

Passing is either 2TE/2WR, 1TE/3WR or 4WR... What ever players are available and what I need to develope.

Defense has been a 3-5-2-1 for a season or two, but that is only because I have better options at LB than at DB's so I will not risk throwing in a weak DB for a strong LB.

pass = 4x receivers + 1x back
rush = 3x receivers + 1x fullback + 1x halfback

what about direction ....do you tend to attack both flanks, or dark-wing it, or let the QB decide ?

I got a 20 INT QB so I tend to let him decide since my best WR has low CON. If I had a WR with 17+ CON I would darkwing it every time... and randomly change the side he is on.

But I am just waiting for my 20 CON TE to get there... Then I will darkwing him.
