Consider you're in a competitive Division 5. The fact you're division five is approximately 40% of your revenue chopped off from the shop already. Admittedly, this is nullified somewhat by the fact you won't be dead last, and for every position above that you get 10% back alongside bonuses for winning games and negatives for losing.

Yeah, I see your point ... the only thing about club shop is that if you ask 5 vets in this game about club shop, you seem to get 5 different answers.
As regards being in a competitive Div 5 ...without being disrespectful to the other teams, I'm not really in a competitive Div 5. I expect to be 2nd this season, and as I've got Bots for the next few games and don't play the probable eventual winners until Week 8 or thereabouts, I don't see why I can't be in 2nd place all season long ...and maybe 1st for a while if I run the score up against the Bots ...which I probably intend to do, come to think of it !

Yeah, it's one of those issues like the youth academy (try starting a thread about that!) where everyone has a differing opinion.

Using your information (if you retain 2nd all year long), you can expect a bonus of 40% (with an extra 5-10% most weeks, with minus 5-10% for the one or two losses you predict). Using your maximum bonus (ie 2nd place and maximum win bonus) of 50% for every week, it'll still take you 18 weeks to make your $550k investment back. In the long run, obviously worth it, but like I suggested, if you can use that $550k more wisely now, then I'd do so.

Also, with full vip and execs, you should have very few monetary issues at this stage of team development anyway (except if you want to upgrade everything at the same time which requires a few million). Considering the aim of the shop is to improve finances and that it takes a while to do so, you might actually be better off expanding your stadium to the 35k total as suggested by other players.

Youth academy seems to be almost universally loathed ! ...apart from one or two YA advocates who really do seem to be swimming against the tide. I remember Serrie once saying that YA is the very last thing to build ..far be it from me to argue with Serrie, one of the wisest of the wise. Bizarrely enough ...in a certain other American Football manager sim ... the YA is universally loved, and it's one of the first things on the list when you've got the required cash to build/upgrade to the Max.

At this moment in time, I'm still trying to gather the info/opinions as it probably doesn't make sense to do anything until I get dumped out of the regional cup, I've drawn a team that was Bot until about 1 week ago, so without being cocky I'd like to think that I'll win that, but I'll probably be knocked out in the following round ....I can then look to some building, unfortunately I think my "double away" schedule is Week 15/16 ...not sure if I've got the patience to wait until then, so I'll probably go for a "one-stand" build on the stand with the missing Execs and just throw all the money I've got at the time into a build on that one stand ....the stadium might look a bit lop-sided on the front page overview, but I can live with that !

Repost mostly, but I found out I misread a figure off the calculator making results very wrong. Now with fixed figures (ie $396k instead of $3.9million!)

After doing a bit more investigation, $550k would net you 2200 normal seats exactly. Given home games will charge $20 per normal seat, and on average you'd have 9 home games every 18 weeks, that puts you up $396,000 compared to a fully upgraded club shop which would be breaking even (with the 50% bonus for 2nd place and winning every week as detailed above).

After the club shop breaks even, if all things remain the same (ie, still 5th division, still 2nd place, still winning), you will earn about $60,500 every fortnight. 2200 seats will earn you $44,000 per home game (so roughly very fortnight). This excludes friendlies, but they would not bridge that gap. This looks great! HOWEVER, consider you're $396,000 behind from those 18 weeks. At a gain of only $16,500 per week over the 2200 seats, that will take you another 24 weeks to catch up and over take those 2200 seats as the source which has generated the MOST money in total.

So as we can see, EVENTUALLY, even in 5th division, the club shop comes good. It's really something I wouldn't prioritise (at least very highly anyhow). But yes, asking around is certainly a good idea.

EDIT: Yeah, listening to Serrie is a good idea. I don't think the YA is useless as it can save weeks of training (and also guarantee higher physical caps due to being able to pick players with higher starting values), but a low priority that doesn't solve the most important factor of them all - talent.

just my personal opinion, but if a manager is in Div 5 (Atlantic Europe) and he's got a Youth Academy, then he's doing something badly wrong !!!
For me, it's way down the list of priorities ...my money will be spent on zillions of other things first ...I'm hoping that I'm higher than Div 5 before the YA ever becomes a serious thought.

in fact, I'm struggling to think of many things that are less of a priority than the YA ...the only thing that springs to mind is a "Kicking Coach" lol ! ....now that really is the bottom of the bottom of the pile

Depends how long you've been in Division 5 hahaha!

I'd also argue upgraded nutrition centre in the current engine (where BMI and the magic level of 35 doesn't matter) is the only lower priority for me

club shop with the upgrades ? or do the upgrades not matter much ?

yeah with the upgrades its a personal decision when to get the club shop but once you have it you will make more from it than the maintanence costs you regardless of your division so the sooner you have it the sooner its paid for itself and then its just extra money each wednesday after that so i say get it as ASAP...

What do I spend the money on next ? in which order should I do things ?
fitness centre ?,training hall ?,club shop ? , other coaches ?
more seats ?

Thanks in advance.

so build your stadium this wednesday I d say rather than wait till you re out of the cup.(of course use the away away advantage or if you dont have 2 away games build on a wednesday before any home game.

about the rest?
if 10 players on your team have primary physical close to where you need it to be (I say 11-12 is enough for my team, others like 20),get other coaches (at least att and def)
Which reminds me you need Signing Bonus+10Xsalary in your account to get coaches.-A ridiculous rule, but it is what it is.
So you might want to sign your coaches before you start your stadium build.

If less than 10 players have reached the limit, fitness centre with all upgrades.

I d buy the club shop anytime after I have vips and execs maxed out- at least I d since it yields returns every week -)

Then buy/upgrade whatevers left between fitness centre and att and def coaches.
Then training hall.

Buyeach of the training hall ,fitness centre and club shop when u have enough to afford each of the upgrades as well.(guideline not a necessity)

And all along the way remember to use basic arithmetic to keep checking on costs.
Or at least compare the finances for a home and an away week to see if you are losing money or gaining money. Again designers beleive you are genetically dumb as a door when nailed
Why else would they trust you not to be able to do either - so they need you to have 10 times the coaches salary, etc.(sic)
