I was under the impression that players wages increased because their skills have increased....... but not if their fitness has increased

I have no training centre, just a fitness centre, so theoretically my players wages shouldn't have increased, but they have

50-60% in some cases

Any idea why ??

The "free skills" are strength/speed & stamina ....everything else will cost you wages.
I've pasted (below) a handy little chart to show how much each player should cost you (roughly), please post back if your players highest skills don't match the wages shown in this chart. Hope this helps.

Skill / Wage

1 500
2 800
3 900
4 1300
5 2400
6 2700
7 3200
8 4800
9 6600
10 9000
11 13000
12 17100
13 22300
14 28900
15 37300
16 46800
17 57800
18 70600
19 85400
20 102200

Sometimes youth players from the weekly pick come with an irreal wage that it is adjusted during this season time

Ok I did pop 2 guys from tackling 7 to 8...... can see that increases the wage quite a bit !!

But your figures say 8 = 4800, but these guys are nearer 5100......

Or do other skills put that up ?

Thanks for the advise - very helpful

Its not an exact science, and the list is not official.. The wages fluctuate a bit from the figure

I'd say that chart is 95% accurate and the other 5% is GI voodoo

but seriously ... I've just checked all my players, most have had slight increases but it does all add up. I noticed 2 things:-

(1) as KR311 said, the youth pulls tend to be cheap-as-chips and their wages go up , can be something like $1200 to $2300, but I have quite a few of them and it starts to add up.
(2) One or two of my "older" players (25 or 26, for example) had slight wage decreases, not much .. maybe $200 or something like that.

It means that in percentage terms my wage bill went up quite a bit because I've got plenty of youth pulls, but in actual dollar terms it wasn't too excessive.

There is also another current thread about this subject (see link below)

Thanks guys this has been really helpful

So does this wage rate mean if I have a guy on 8 tackling, so wages $4800/5000 as they are, he can have positioning, footwork etc also up to 8 without it costing extra in wages right ?

In other words you pay the rate of whatever the maximum reached skill is ??

And then if so, training would be far more cost effective staggering 3 skills gradually than doing the prime one up to its cap

Basically you're bang on the money ...here's 2 daft examples to illustrate the point ...

Player A .... primary skills of 15,2,1 ....Player B primary skills of 6,6,6
both have totals of 18 ...

....Player A is a one-skill wonder and will bankrupt you, Player B is a "round-build" and is very cost-effective.

2nd example ...I once saw a player on the transfer market with a wage of $100,000 per week ...he looked crap and I couldn't see why he was a $100k player ...then I noticed Vision=20 ... oh dear oh dear !! ... welcome to the most expensive but most useless player in GI.

But at least you can be sure that he didn't miss any of the action going on across the field, even if he wasn't fast or fit enough to take part in any of it!

Hopefully it served the coach as a reminder to always check your training schedule for all new players (youth pulls and transfers) and to glance over the training for the other players at the same time. Saves any post-season surprises when the player demands you pay $100k/week for the priveledge of a bench-warmer...
