It has been 2 yrs exactly since we became a team today! We spent 2 seasons in div 3 due to a lazy BFS in the first half of that season and losing to a bot! I seem to believe 2 seasons in a lower div is a must. Other than a few mistakes buying a player or and building a facility too early, our stadium and team have grown concurrently with no over expense on players and maintenance (stadium const.), also with friendly max return.
We have just now made it to the regional cup final and one game away from entering the AFLC perhaps. This has been my goal and every other managers goal. So, MY critical path in this game for where i wanted to be (which is one game away), leads me to believe that it takes 2 yrs from spawn of a team to AFLC contender.

Any opinions or has this been done quicker by some one else. But in saying this, it is only relevent to our oceana zone as we have a lot less teams...so we are lucky not to be here for 3 or 4 yrs..before a go at the title...

Just a piece of info..Id like to know about the Slumbering Skink and 49ers also..

Luck of the draw also plays a part. A few of us have encountered Skinks or 49ers in the cup prior to the final round and been summarily knocked out. But to be there in a handful of seasons is still a great effort. Will be interesting to see how an already experienced manager like Sleuthmeister handles things over the next 2-3 seasons...

Yup the Bucs got there quicker a little.

Bucs Founded: 30-11-2009
1st Cup Final: 13-07-2011
1st AFLC Game: 11-08-2011

1 year 8 months to be in the Cup final.
1 year 9 months between starting and playing their first AFLC game.

Bucs took out the Skinks early in that Cup cycle (Season 8) in what was a weird ending game, then advanced a few more games (and close ones) to be in the Cup final where the 49ers won it easily.

There is no dominance in Oceania TD no more.

The Bucs became lazy in Season 9 and the 1st half of Season 10, and while the competition was still continuing to improve, the Bucs had plateaued using players with less talent that other teams had.

Because of being on cruise control for a season and a half, it will take the Bucs the same amount of time to dig themselves out of the hole they dug. So one season to go.

A positive that the Bucs can take out of Season 10 is that they have not been dominated by any one team. Their loses (point wise) have been little. Each by 11, 9, 4, 4, 18 , 7. The last two were at a point where they knew were were out of the running for top spot.

I guess you can look at it a different way also. Loses are still loses, and you don't win games by loosing by one or loosing by 21. Gotta win, even if it is only by a point.

The new QB selected half way through this season, and a reshuffle of the LBs will see an improvement with the Bucs. The QB is still developing and has another two seaons before he will be at his prime. And the LBs will be a backwards step before massive steps forward in a season or two.

---

Good luck to both the Iron Backs and the 49ers in the Cup final. Will be an good battle.

If the Bucs lose next week. That will be 11 wins for 3 seasons in a row. How's that for consistency?

Got the skinks for the last round of season 1. Won III.6 in season 2. Won II.2 and the Regional Cup in season 4. 3 out of 4 semi finalists that season were from II.2 which just goes to show how impressive it was to win both. Won the top division and RC both in seasons 6, 7 and 9.

And I haven't really been dominant this season at all. Several close game that could have gone either way and someone else would be lifting the trophy. Just managed to get home most of the time while everyone else stumbled.
