When is stamina worth training over other skills? I've read some opinions that say that stamina doesn't play a huge part in the engine, but it does have an effect on play as the game wears on. Is that enough to start training now if I find my team unable to compete as well against the top teams in my division?

My personal preference would be to train speed and strength first, stamina is one of the last things i train

For me, I am the opposite. I had good results in my leagues training stamina to 10. Most of the time my 3rd and 4th quarters, I'd either score evenly or outscore much better teams with poor stamina.

Don't get me wrong, I still might have been down 14-21 points at halftime against the league leaders. I know when I had main skills of 7-10, and stamina of 10, I was playing well in the second half against teams with main skills of 13 and stamina not trained at all (ie 2-5).

It is not a huge difference, but I reckon it is the difference of up to 3 skill points in the 3rd/4th quarters.

For me, I train my players like this:-
SPD + STR to find caps
Once caps found, assign position
Train STA to 10
Train main skill + AGI evenly*
Train secondry skills**

*= AGI might be 5, and CAT might be 1 for a WR, so I will train CAT until both are 5, then evenly from there.

**= Depending on my wages, I might start training the secondry skill/s towards the end of the season (last 3 to 5 weeks). Wages are calculated on the highest trainable skill, so I train the lower secondry skill/s to prevent the highest main skill/s jumping another point. Then once the new season starts, revert back to main skill/s.

I guess if you weren't in a huge rush, you could train the main skill, AGI and STA evenly.

How I train each position (after SPD/STR caps found):-
QB - STA 10, then PAS + VIS, then AGI
FB - STA 10, then BLK + AGI, then CAR + FOT
HB - STA 10, then CAR + AGI, then BLK + FOT
WR - STA 10, then CAT + AGI, then POS
TE - STA 10, then CAT + AGI, then BLK + POS
OL - STA 10, then BLK + AGI, then FOT
DL - STA 10, then TAC + AGI
LB - STA 10, then TAC + AGI, then CAT + POS (+ VIS for MLB)
CB - STA 10, then TAC + AGI, then CAT + POS (+ BLK for STCB)
SF - STA 10, then TAC + AGI, then CAt + POS
K - KIC + PUN, then VIS + STA
P - KIC + PUN, then VIS + STA
G - TAC + AGI, then STA
KR - CAR + AGI, then STA + FOT, then CAT + POS

---

You will find though there are some major players that have been in the game for a long time, then have players with skills of 17-20, and hanve not trained stamina at all. But then 20 - 3 = 17 or 17 - 3 = 14. Hardly gonna effect them at all is it?

This is cloce to the philosophy, which I try to follow.

Your opponents are very strong. You will not beat them by training stamina.
Do as other wrote: train physical skills at first (if you have supporter you can train without focus) and find physical cap. Stamina on level 10 is good I think. And yes currently stamina is not "big skill" but in new engine propably will be more important as is now.

i train stamina mostly only to control the wage-bill.
So if the skills are at 1 level < the wage I can afford to pay next season I stop training ps and train stamina.
Essentially the way the game is designed a team with a 1000k wages (starters) will have to try seriously hard to lose to a team with 100k wages. But thats where your management skills come in - a balance between training and wages.
You need to calculate the wages that your team can afford and stop training wage-related skills accordingly.(the threads stickied in the rookie section give you a fair idea about what you can afford)
