Also, how do you link a player in a post ? I have clicked the player link part and copied in the ID code where the cursor is and nothing happens. I now have a very stupid looking ad in the ads section

Any help would be appreciated , what do you copy in and where ?
Thanks

I had the same problem - could not get any of the buttons or preview to work for my Ad. What I did was wrote the post here, in the newbie section, with all my colors and fonts, etc, by creating a "new topic", previewed it to make sure that it looked good, and then copied and pasted it my Ad post and cancelled my "new topic". Hope that made sense.

But yeah, kong_kaj answered your question correctly.

7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum.

Its possible to train a guy to +3 of his soft cap, although it will take a while

Ah - I glazed over section 7. Its still confusing. So if a player is a 1* talent, he can only get 12 (non-fitness) skill max. Lets say catching. So once he hits 12 catching, he's maxed. If the following week he trains catching again, does he:
a) have a 1 in 3 shot of getting training, period
b) have a 1 in 3 shot, per point, of every point he would've earned (i.e., does he essentially get a 3rd of his total points)
c) something else

Lots of errors in this thread. Starting with the terms used confusing people. There areare many "ratings" in this game. BPOS, game, talent and experience are all ratings.

Max values
Talent - max BPOS - cap
0.5 - 3.0 - 11
1.0 - 3.0 - 12
1.5 - 3.5 - 13
2.0 - 3.5 - 14
2.5 - 4.0 - 15
3.0 - 4.0 - 16
3.5 - 4.5 - 17
4.0 - 4.5 - 18
4.5 - 5.0 - 19
5.0 - 5.0 - 20

If you are training a player to go higher than his cap, it is trained that same as normal. You still need to reach 100 points on the skill, then it is the 1in3, 1in5, 1in10, 1in20 scenerios.

So it may take 300 points to go up 1 from a cap.

Physical caps are random and not controlled by talent, and will be/maybe controlled by BMI in the new engine. Last edited on 2012-02-10 at 2:30

The above post is a very concise way of explaining the skill cap to talent relationship. It's also how I understand it to work if that counts for anything.

As for the problem of the insert player link not working with the ads, I've found it depends on your browser. IE 9, Opera 11.60 and Google Chrome (I forget which version, but a relatively recent one) all work fine. However with Mozilla Firefox 3.6.26 the insert player link in the ad section does not work, but the player link button when forum posting (along with the team and match links) DO work. I have no idea whether it's Firefox in general or just my old version being... old. These four browsers are just the ones I had readily available, so I'm unsure about other ones like Safari or Netscape Navigator (hahaha!) or whatever other ones people use.

I have problems with Firefox version 9.0.1, but I would recommend using the guide posted by Kong Kaj earlier.
